New 4th Gen Limited - Few issues/questions...

Hello all!
I just picked up on 06 limited in mint condition with 65k on the clock and am pretty stoked on my first 4runner. Overall, the car is in great shape - just a few things that stick out as needing attention...

First, the fog lights do not work - I swapped the bulbs tonight and also replaced the fuse - nothing whatsoever...just dead. Im hoping I dont have to replace the stalk in the cabin - I read a few posts on the forum and everything pretty much revolved around the fuse and bulbs. I picked up the car from a 70 yr doctor, so I doubt he was messing around with any foglight DRL mods, etc. Does anyone have any ideas? When the engine is off and I flip the fog switch on the stalk, I hear a faint click coming from the fuse area, but its really quiet and doest sound like the fuse is popping or blowing...thoughts?

Also, the previous owner pulled the rear headrests because he said they were obstructing his wife's view (??) Either way, the guy couldn't find them when I took delivery. I've been scouring craigslist for part-outs, and tried to check a few scrap/parts websites as well as ebay - but not having much luck. Between 2003-2009, did the light gray interior color (stone) leather change during those 7 years of the 4th gen? Anyone have any scrap yards to check? Extra head rests laying around (wishful thinking)...called Toyota and was quoted at $1700 for the three! Holy rape.

The driver's seat has some wear and tear on the left top sections, as well as the start (1/2" slit) on the side where the leather has ripped. Right now, its hairline...but I have seen how these poor quality seat materials break down over time. Im thinking about finding a local company here in the Denver area to pull off the 2-3 panels that could use replacement and swap out matched new pieces. Has anyone done this? Wondering on the approximate cost - if its 200-300, I would seriously consider it. I have seen the threads on the seat covers, leather repair glues, etc. Just curious about people's success with replacing the few pieces that get the most wear and tear on the left top edge and side...

You may also want to try replacing the bulb sockets, I had the problem of blowing one bulb then replacing it and thinking it blew. Replaced the connector after reading something here about it and it works great now.

Can't help with the head rests other than ebay or craigslist.

Not sure about the leather panel either, I've never heard of anyone doing that if so it would be cool. Certainly cheaper than $500 replacement covers that are ALMOST as clean looking as stock.

Just a thought but I bought some Syntech seat covers for like 30 bucks shipped. Mostly because sometimes I get dusty/ashy at the powerplant I work at and I did not want to ruin my interior. Honestly they look really good and have held up well. I'll definitely be buying another set once I do wear these out. I even had somebody thinking they were an expensive set. When I told him how much I paid he ordered a set that night for his H3.

Hey congrats on the truck, i would suggest some clazzio seat covers instead of going through the expense of getting them repaired. They go straight over the fabric and fit like factory, leather is around $390 for the whole truck! Also provides some extra padding as well so more comfy. Worth every cent, ive had them a few months now no problems at all, they look great.

You could move the front headrests to the back and put LCD headrests like this. That'll get you two out of the three in the back.

Otherwise, I think you're stuck with a salvage.

I've never used any of these used parts links but have been saving them for a rainy day.

I had the driver's seat on my '03 Limited done for a total of $150.00. Looks great, in and out in 2 hours. I considered a cover but figured the odds of getting it to match the rest of the seats was a long shot.
