New 5th Gen Trails in UT, need some advice

Hey gang,

New here, just traded in my 2008 Trails FJ for a 2013 Trails 4.

I need a front grille guard, but (no offense to those that have them) think most looks terrible. I *do* like this one:

But to get that Qjake had to modify an Aries... and I'm not really handy enough to do it myself. SO...

1. I've looked pretty extensively, but does anyone know of a center-only grille guard like this available for purchase? I saw one thread about a police style push bar that looked ok, but it sounded like there were fit issues and mods needed to make it work.

2. Can anyone recommend a good off-road shop in Utah to get the Aries from, and/or who could do the cutting and grinding?????

I have a front rack that I need to mount on the truck, for carrying hang gliders, so as much as I'd love to leave the front as it is, not getting a brush guard would mean needing pretty extensive welding and fabrication of a new front rack, rather than using the one I have. Not against that route, but again, would need a reference for someone that can do this kind of fabrication... without charging me an arm and a leg. My friend in NY made my current one, before I moved to UT. no friends here :-( haha

Bump- whole lotta 4 Runners in Utah... no one knows a good 4x4 shop anywhere in SLC/Provo/Heber/Park City/etc etc?

If you're from Utah and DON'T have a recommendation, you could even say that... just so I know who's out there:snacker:

Ok, so I just broke down and ordered the Aries from autoanything.com

New customer discount code, plus a 15% code, and it was $340 (free shipping). Not too shabby.

Now I'll just need any kind of 4x4 or metal fab shop to chop the headlight bars, grind it all nicey nice, and then I'll prob splurge on a nice black powder coat before mounting.

ANY RECOMMENDS WHERE I COULD GET SOME CUTTING AND GRINDING DONE IN THE SLC/PROVO/OGDEN AREA?:help:

Cutting and grinding just needs an angle grinder and some wheels - $20 at Harbor Freight will set you up, or you're welcome to bring it by my place and play with my tools if you'd prefer. Do you need welding too? My welds look like half-priced crap, but I can take a swing at it if you wanted.

If you need a professional shop, though, UFAB in Springville is who I would take a project to: WWW.UNLFAB.COM. I haven't done any business with him personally, but he's got a good rep and should have no problem doing what you're looking for. There's plenty of Utah 4Runners, but I don't know how many 5th gens there are on T4R.org (I can only think of Narkhalek, and I don't know how often he logs in). Come find us on Utah DesertRunners T4R for local info in the future!

You might want to check out Rocky Road in Heber. I have talked with them in the past about some custom fab work, but I don't know if they still do it.

I see many 5th gens driving around SLC, but no idea how many actually follow the forum, much less do any modding.
