New 5th generation owner

My 03 Sport with 273,000 miles had an ac issue that was going to cost $2300 to fix, so I traded her in on a 2010 Limited with 138,000 miles for $19,875. I'm plowing through the manual now trying to figure out how everything works but my one day's experience is feeling pretty good. No way I would buy a car with 138,000 miles if I hadn't had such good luck with my previous 4Runner. I'm hoping the v6 will hold up as well as the v8.

Congrats! As long as regular maintenance was done, these 4.0's can go the distance. Although slightly different, there are plenty of examples in the 4th gen section (and a bunch on other sites such as Tacoma an FJ forums) of really high mileage v6's. FWIW, I have 156k on my 4th gen v6 and it's still going strong.

Glad to know that I'm not the only one who isn't afraid to buy a high mileage 4Runner.

I ended up trading in my 03 Limited V8 (with 167,000 km) for a new-to-me 2011 Limited (with 144,000 km).

The 03 was likely coming up on some expensive repairs, and it was more for piece-of-mind to get into the one-owner (with full service records) 2011 that was originally bought and traded in at my local dealership.

Having a pre-purchase inspection done by my independent mechanic also helped me make an informed decision about buying it.
