New battery time

I got my last 3 batteries from Sam's Club in the last 10 year and only paid for one. The First was a Champion brand battery. It died after 3 years, mainly because I rarely drove my T4R, and I had to charge the battery a few times. Sam's club replaced the battery since it was still under the Free replacement. The replacement battery, only lasted 30 months, it came to a point that it would not hold a charge, and my alternator was not to blame. Again Sam's replaced it for free, and now I'm on my 3rd battery, Energizer brand, but it's made by Johnson Controls. It's been going strong for the last 40 months with no problems, mainly because I drive my T4R at least once a week.

The first battery cost me $64.99 and the last time I checked it was close to $100. If I can get another 40 months, it's more than paid for the last 10 years.

Sorry to hear about this. I purchased one some time ago and it is still going strong. I believe Kirkland batteries are rated within the top 10 for performance, quality and price point.

If you look at the label carfully it will probably say it's made for Kirkland by ______. I'm betting it's either Johnson Controls or Interstate. The club stores tend to give longer Free Replacement periods than most other brands.

Yes, I believe that Johnson Controls makes the Battery for Costco. I copied the following passage from a consumers rating site.

Full replacement is great until you find you need your battery replaced in the middle of the desert 300 miles from the nearest Costco. When Kirkland makes an AGM, they'll have my attention.

The OEM batteries typically do really well. The TrueStart Toyota replacements are ok, but no better or worse than other quality batteries available. Here is my next one. Its a new old stock found at my work. Not to install in my 86', but just to put away.

Come to think of it, they never tested the battery I claimed was bad. They just took my proof of purchase (receipt) and gave me a new one.:eyebrows:
