new brakes for my 04

hey all, i don't know much about brakes wondering if any of you guys do? my rotors are warped really bad. i don't think they can be turned. i don't want to put factory rotors back in since they warped after 12,000 miles of normal driving. no hard stops. figured i'd just replace everything at once and this is the best deal i could find. the quality seems good but i really don't know. any help would be nice.

I am not a fan of drilled rotors. I like high quality OEM replacements or slotted. Napa has a premium OEM replacement which are always good. Brembo and Centric(sp?) tend to be good also. There's so many cheap knock offs that have the bling but warp and wear quickly. I can't speak good or bad about the specific ones you posted other than to say I've read a lot over the years and drilled is ok on a single piece disc like the rear or a bike. Not so good on the front and they eat pads, don't stop better etc...

im running EBC slotted/dimpled rotors and green stuff pads on all 4 corners of my 04 runner and love em !

My 04 has warped the rear rotors twice. Both factory and aftermarket. It has never warped the front in almost 90k miles.

You might want to be sure if it is the fronts or rears before ordering parts. I replaced the fronts first the first time and had to go right out and buy all the stuff for the rears also.

thanks for the replies so far. i'm still not quite sure what i'm going to do. i think i'm going to check with an auto parts store and see what they have available. toyota told me my fronts are warped. i can feel it when i stop at any speed. maybe a plain brake shop will be fine.

well i took my 4runner into the local brake shop and got new pads and they were able to turn my front rotors. unfortunately they found 3 of my shocks are leaking. if my extended warranty doesn't cover it i'll be getting me some OME.

I am not sure about the X-Reas coverage. I would think shocks are normally considered a wear Item. How many miles do you have on your runner? I would definitely have Toyota take a look at them before you get them replaced. I have seen a lot of repair places try to "upsell" people on unneeded things. ie... Your intake needs to be decarboned, your injectors need cleaning, here is some magical mystery cleaner we will pour in your tank, your shocks are leaking, your tie-rod ends are shot, your track bar bushings are wore out, your idler arm is shot, your wheel bearings, your flux capacitor stop fluxing!!!!!

All except the last are not all that easy to verifiy if the vehicle is already sitting on the ground after they "notifiy" you of the problems. All easy money for them if even a third of the people they tell come back and have those items repaired. The last one you have to go see Doc Holiday for.

60k. i think i had one replaced at 37,000 miles and all i paid was $50.00 which was the deductable. they didn't try to sell me new shocks cause they don't carry the xreas shocks. they did show me leaking shocks and they look like the one that i had replaced. if its not covered i'd rather spend the money and get the OME kit.
they told me i need to replace my muffler bearing and fuel tank heater.

X=REAS

The X-Reas system is covered under the Toyota Platinum warranty. There has been at least two forum members that have used the warranty for repair of the system. (Myself included).
