New carpet installed in 99 limited

Put a black carpet in my 99 limited, the black/tan interior goes well with the black/tan two tone paint. It took 4 hours. Tools used were a 10, 12, and 14mm socket and cordless impact gun, a ratchet, misc screwdrivers and a razor knife.

Looks good, I thought about doing black carpet when I did my interior swap, but wasn't sure if I'd like it.

Thanks! I got it from Auto Custom Carpets on eBay. It was $140 shipped and does not come with the holes for seat belts or brackets or anything. A word of advice to anyone hoping to do the same would be to cut small portions at a time until you get it to fit. I cut slightly too much on the driver side of the console but was able to hide it with a 3x3 scrap piece.

Aside from the Auto Custom Carpets being new (which is obviously nice), does their product seem comparable to the factory stuff? Similar pile? Does it come with the contours in it? Does it seem like it'll hold up for a few years?

I bought mine from stockinteriors.com and have had it for over two years now and it still looks brand new. Mine looks exactly the same as the original poster

The contours are there but could be tighter, for the price you can't beat it and it would take someone looking for the areas where the fit isn't perfect to notice. Pile seems similar, it cleans well and doesn't hold alot of dirt which I like because I run a car wash/detail place here in town. We hate Mazda/VW carpets for their crappy carpet that just holds on to all debris for dear life.

All in all it was a great mod and made a huge difference!

your carpet came molded right? if so over time it will fit a little bit better when it gets more settled with the heat

Yea it came molded, I just wish it came with more insulation. It's a little louder driving now so if I was gonna do it again I would put down some pieces of office carpet or dynamat or something

Yeah I got the mass backing on mine which added another $100. It made it even harder to cut the holes for the seat bolts.

I wish I would have done the same, I'm probably gonna pull it back up at some point and insulate it. Or possibly do lizard skin on the underbody, anyone have experience with that stuff?
