Hit a big bump, that little valve opens, and then your engine bleeds out like you cut its jugular.

I was worried about it before I bought it, but it's held shut by a spring. There's no accidental opening due to the way it's designed and latched. The valve is a ball valve, so it shouldn't leak, either. I really like it.

Ouch! You crunched your oil pan too? Where were the spotters? Oh ya it was raining. :p
we were there but its tough to spot someone thats dragging over every rock.:)

I wouldn't have crushed it if I didn't have a Fumoto valve. Whatever crushed the skid plate also hit the tip of the Fumoto, which deformed the bottom of the oil pan. It's probably not necessary to fix, but I'm still under warranty. God forbid something completely unrelated goes wrong and they try to blame it on the dimple in the pan.

And Alex, I know you were wondering earlier what a Fumoto is; this replaces the oil drain plug:

glad your getting it fixed up for cheap.:wink2: the skids will help alot. id leave the valve off if you plan on wheeling still or at least till you get that runner up alittle higher .

I'm getting 265/70/17 Hankook AT's soon, so shut it :roadkill:
whats rob charging you for those ?

I live in a town full of hippy tree huggers. Almost all of my older teachers went to Woodstock and I'm pretty sure most still smoke weed.... Environmentalists plague the town. We don't have hazardous waste pick up. :(.

check with your city hall . in stoughton we have a waste bin at the police station . i bring everything down there for free. oil, diff fluid, trans fluid anything and everything .

I'll be heading out on the 14th prob come home on Sunday the 17th. As for july 26th  Let me see what I got going on maybe I'll tag along. Thanks for the invite :thumb3:

Billy, Rob is trading me the tires for a gauge/radio swap +$100. Not a bad deal IMHO! I saw them in person last weekend. They're lookin goooooood!

I know, you guys did a great job spotting. The majority of the carnage is from my own stupidity. I parked right in front of a huge rock and forgot to go around it when I started moving forward. I high centered on it for a little bit. Maggie even warned me about it :happens:

I thought we were Meeting up June 15-17? Nothing crazy at all but I know of a couple ok spots. I am going to check one out in CT this weekend.

Where are you looking in CT? I'm originally from the Hartford area (dad lives north, closer to Springfield and mom lives south of the city), so I'm familiar with a lot of the popular wheeling spots. I may be able to spare you a trip and tell you if it's worth going.

Back before condo living screwed up my ability to do routine maintenance you could drop your old oil at Auto Zone in their big waste oil tank, they don't still do that?
BTW, good thread idea, no one ever goes to the regional ones on here...

Yea maybe NAPA will take it... Or the Merrimack river :D

In Massachusetts all auto suppliers are required to accept used oils for proper disposal/recycling.

Please do not dump it illegally!!

Wait mike are you saying you know of wheeling spots in the Springfield area?

Nothing like what we did the other day. A lot of the good spots have been shut down, even though they were once legal...Damn NIMBYs.

Off Porter Rd in Ellington? I am just south of Springfield
Never been. Is it a trail or just an open area?

I ordered my new skids...they don't have any in stock and they will probably have to be fabbed :(

Don't they realize that our 4 wheel clubs take care and give back to our trails? STUPID!

And at least you're gettin skids, and your gal gave you the go ahead!

Yeah, she saw it up on the lift at lous and agreed that the ones on there were pretty much destroyed. The ones I'm getting are actually cheaper than going factory.
