On A lighter note...

Got my Gobi Stealth and ladder and also my BudBuild sliders installed this past week. The rack and ladder are awesome, very high quality and workmanship throughout, it's really too bad that Gobi's customer service sux so bad. The sliders, well they are BudBuilt's, nuff said!:bigok:

Rack and Ladder:
Had to replace the rear hatch struts too as the weight of the ladder won't let it open all the way.






BudBuilt sliders:
I have removed the rocker panels for now but will replace them with the Trail Edition rockers.

What was the issue with the Gobi ladder/their customer service?

That looks great Billy, and I mean it! I was wondering what made it look really different... It was the absence of the limited rocker panels. Without those and with the sliders, your truck looks like it has more clearance and its not as top heavy looking.. And what I mean by that is your wheels look bigger, the truck looks a little longer, and the bottom of the body doesn't seem narrow to me anymore! I love the look of that damn thing! I'm shocked that removing some rocker panels and adding some sliders would make me begin to develop some 5th gen envy :wow:

What would maybe look cool is to do the black headlight and fog light mod? I think it would look really stealthy and vicious! I know 'blacked out' trucks are common, but they're common for a reason... They look friggin badass!

I'm impressed in how far you've taken your truck from just a few months ago. And I'm truly sorry that I took the ball-busting too far. It really was not necessary. We all have pride in our vehicles and everyone has their own style. I'm really sorry for offending you Billy. :moping:

I know most of you guys here don't venture into the 5th gen forum so I'll post this here also:

Anyone planning to attend the Vermont Overland Rally September 20-23?? There will be 4 hour guided tours of class IV roads on both Friday and Saturday as well as clinics on driving techniques (for Alex!) and recovery techniques. They'll also have vendors on hand showing off their goods and hopefully lots of info and maps for Vermonts class IV roads.

TitanPat, Joneseyyy and a couple others are going and I'm almost positive I will also go, will know for certain tomorrow. If you are interested check out the links in the above thread.

Ill give you a guided tour any time you want. Haha.

The sliders are at exactly the same height as the frame rails so i'm guessing I gained around 3-4 inches clearance at the rocker :thumb3:

Now when are we going to put together another Henniker trip?? Very soon I hope because my nephew is bugging me to go.

Hyde's will leave our truck's in 'raw hyde'... Also known as scratched down to the damn metal haha.

I'm down for Henniker! We found some goooooooood trails the Sunday you didn't come out. I guess that's a good thing though cause we tackled some BIG obstacles! You definitely would want more armor than what you had at that time. This rock ledge is what ripped one of my running board mounts off haha (I went up the right side, which is out of frame)

Yea I felt bad about that :/ I didn't really realize how often I pulled that sh*t and that's not cool... I'm done with that. I have respect for the 5th gens now. Your's looks NICE with what you've done recently!

Not getting on the hate train again, but I think it was the 6" rockers that made it look overly tall like a Sienna, not like the 4Runner that we all know and love. Now it looks like a serious truck again! (and it has a lot of the same body lines that my truck has. I like that).

You're lucky that you have your CB and head/fog mods to keep you busy! I'm running out of stuff to do to my truck that my budget allows. Might need to get workin on the Willys wagon so I can wheel that beast! I'm looking to do my headlights, fogs, and marker lights soon.

Rough idea of what I'm getting for my bumper This bumper will actually follow the lines of the original bumper, but just have an angular look to it! No weird super anorexic lines like the friggin CBI. It'll actually look like it belongs!

Kicks the sh*t out of the CBI bumpers!

As for your tail scouting in Henniker, You should try to pick up a Gazetteer atlas, which has all the unmaintained (class 6 in NH IIRC) roads in them. I have one for VT, Love it. Its wicked helpful when trying to plan trips n such.

Yeah I definitely plan on lots of pics and while I'm up there I'll look for the Gazetteer. I have seen it before and I'm pretty sure I had one at one time but wasn't interested in the class VI's at the time. Thanks for the info :thumb3:

Just wrapped up wiring in Sirius to my Clarion head unit. I already had an HD Radio box and these dashboards have no room whatsoever behind them, so that was also a royal pain in the ass.

Not a problem. My dad gave me problems for doing free work, but whatever. My life, my rules (still his roof though)

Should be getting them tomorrow! And thanks for the offer for assistance, but what I really need is a MIG welder. One of the TW guys offered to help, so I'll find some time to get that done hopefully soon.

Got a motor for my 4runner yesterday. Only 60k on her. Pulled it from a 84 ex trail truck that the frame was broken in half from rust. Didnt have a tranny in it, so we had it pulled in 2 hours flat which left the rest of the day for wheelin..

Also managed to snag a clean gas tank...

The guys at VT overland are the ones that got me into 4wheeling. Great group of people should be a great event. I'll look out for you. Your truck is looking nice. I really like your rack, what do you plan on putting up there?
