New Falken AT tire (A/T3W)

I have had the tires now for about 1,000 miles, just had a chance to go to my cabin this weekend and try them in the snow. Worked good enough to pull my buddy out that was running Duratrac's. To be honest whoever went in 1st would have been pulled out by the other.

Got mine rotated and balanced for free at Discount Tire.

20,000 Miles and still at 10/32 to 11/32 all around. They would all be even if I hadn't forgotten to rotate them at 95,000 miles.

Which tire will have a better resale value in 265's?

These Falken AT3 OR Hankooks Dynapro ATM RF10?

I'm leasing my car now and want to upgrade my tires until i have to return the truck.

I think resale would be similar, with maybe an edge to the Falkens just because of looks. Neither tire is considered a premium brand, but based on personal experience/testing/reviews, they are both excellent tires. In the end, they will be used tires and therefore bring little money. If you want the best in terms of resale, you would probably want Michelins or K-bro-2s, but the up front cost would be greater.

They're the same size as the TRD Pro rims, so 285 will mount fine. You'll likely rub and need to do some minor mods such as mud flap removal and/or fender liner mod. Here's a thread I'm subscribed to that should help you out.

Falken Tire Corp., a subsidiary of Sumitomo Rubber North America Inc., will raise prices effective May 1, 2018, as part of its second-quarter marketing strategy.

Price increases on select product lines will range from 3% to 7%, with additional in-line adjustments on several sizes. Falken also implemented a price increase on select consumer tire lines on Jan. 1.

Same experience. I came back down from a 285 and kept most of my lift. I’m surprisingly very happy with how good these stock sizes look even with a lift.

why would any company announce a price increase??!?

It’s hard to believe because this tire is so popular, but I could see a company announcing this to try to push their sale numbers up in the short term if they’re falling short on projections. This would keep the stock holders happy.

I don’t know where Falken is as a company but I’m so happy with this tire that I’m moving up to the 285/70R17 when I lift my runner again in the next week or two.

This tire has held its own in everything I’ve throw at it. Currently the stock 265/70R17...Bilstein 5100 .85 front...Sipertrax 1.25” spacers.

Just bought a set in stock size. The guy at Discount Tire Direct was like "OK wow awesome choice. In that size I can't recommend a better tire."

Will be back once I get them and put some miles on them.

I'm glad I bought them before this price increase. I bought a set in stock size/standard load and the price couldn't be better. Plus I took advantage of the Discount Tire deal getting $100 off my set. Just putting hwy miles on it for now but it's a great tire.

Looking for some feedback from those using the E rated Falkens

I’m one of the original purchasers of this tire in stock size and love them so much I’m keeping with this same tire, just in a 285/70r17 now that I’m lifting my Runner up higher.

I’m just looking for some input on long-term ride quality with the E rating since I don’t want to destroy my ride quality and the P series in stock size has been more than capable for my off-roading and towing needs. I understand the benefits of both...would just love to hear if the ride quality change was dramatic. Thanks!

I just talked to a tech guy at Falken HQ here in California and he sees nothing in his information that speaks of this tire being released. He said that if they were going to launch this quarter it would already be stocked in the warehouse, ready for distribution.

Maybe something caused delays or cancellation but 275-70 is not in the cards for Falken Fans

Decipher, I have the E rated version in the stock size. Definitely notice the ride being rougher, but it's not a huge deal for me. And I do some driving in San Francisco with a fair share of crappy potholed roads. This is coming off of the stock duelers.

Do they actually make a P-rated version of the 285s?

I Talked to Tech support at Falken 2 Times. Last time which was around January they said production of the 275-70-17 would begin the 1st quarter of 2018 and release was Scheduled for the Start of the 2nd quarter. Which goes along with what I was told the 1st time I called about a 275-70-17. I was told it would be a D Load Tire also.

And what is the lowest tire pressure people run on the trail on these things.. I have P rated as well.

I have been down to 14 psi on my p285s. no issues.

It may just be my opinion. I only had the stock tires for a bit but didn’t really get a chance to use them in the snow. The falkens seemed much better in the wet compared to stock. The last car was a Subaru and really doesn’t matter what tires you throw on those things they grip in the snow no matter what lol.

Actually I disagree. The stock Subaru Bridgestone Potenza RE92's on my 2005 Legacy GT wagon were the worst tires I have ever used. I swapped them out with only 2000 miles on them because they were downright dangerous. It was like driving on ice in light rain. I swear, they should have been recalled.
