In my direct experience the Revo3 is better than the KO2. KO2 are not good in the wet comparatively. Same in E load as well for our big trucks...KO2 not good in wet, many reviews say the same.

I am coming from stock setup with Michelin Defender LTX M/S. I will be putting Pro wheels on and bought Bilstein 5100s that I was going to set to 1.75 with 1" rear springs. My plan was to run Cooper AT3 275/70/17 in C load yet for some reason I can't find them, even though some guys claim to be running them.

I was hoping for a slight lift with 275s to fill in wheel wells, but options are just too limited and I don't want to sacrifice ride and mpg with a heavier tire. I'm now considering just putting the bilsteins at .85 up front and sticking with stock tire size.

The Michelins have honestly been acceptable for the off roading that I do, so I am thinking about the Falken 265s in SL. I know it varies, but should I only expect a marginal decrease in MPG? I am hoping to stay under 1 mpg loss. Also in theory, these should be easier to balance compared to a C load, correct? I had big troubles with steering wheel vibrations with the stock Dunlops. After several balancing attempts from the dealer, the truck finally went to the regional tech office for the Michelins and balancing. I think my 4Runner is just a sensitive little guy, so I am worried about switching up tires and having issues again.

Balancing has everything to do with the individual tires you end up receiving and not so much with the size or load rating. Both my 265 and now my 285s, both in SL, required quite a bit of weight to balance but all balanced out just fine and maintained their balance even with some serious off roading. I rotate and balance every 5,000 miles so that plays a big part as well.

As far as your loss in MPG, the Falken is a much more aggressive tire than the Michelin. You’ll lose 1.5-2 mpg is my guess, but probably closer to the lower end depending of course on your lift as well, as you’ll increase drag. The weight of the 265 SL will be acceptable for you to obtain your goal.

I have the Cooper AT3 in LRC 275’s. Since they redesigned the AT3’s with all of the different versions and sidewalls, 275’s are only offered in the AT3 LT and it’s E-Load. It’s an bummer because they have been great. Cooper probably did it because they are mostly purchased for pickups and towing, so people skipped the C load and went with E. For the weight in the Cooper flavors if you went E a person might as well get the STMaxx for 275 size.

Because of this my next Tire will likely be these Falken’s dropped back down to the 265 size (I already have them on my trailer in E load and love them). The only decision will be SL or E depending on how much towing I plan on doing. I’m leaning toward the E also for the tread depth as when you are off pavement down here in Florida it can get muddy and the tread depth is important.

Update, drove from Nj to south Fl. with these tires with the whole gang(wifey and 3 kids and 1 kitten)
Fully loaded, and was really impressed. No wobble or bad vibrations, from dry to all of a sudden rain and puddle from I95 highway. Very good AT tires Imo.

This is the first AT type tire I have ran on any of my 4Runners. I was expecting a difference, but not this much. Now I am hesitating installing the Bilstein 5100s that I have because I am worried that will further stiffen the ride.

The other thing to note is that the steering wheel vibration I had with the factory tires has now come back. I was expecting this as well. Just not looking forward to the multiple trips for rebalancing to try and figure it out.

I put on a set of P285/70r17 Falken Wildpeaks on stock TRDOFP wheels about 1400 miles ago. I added the Bilstein 5100 shocks all around after 200 miles on the WildPeaks and the ride is far better than with the stock shocks. I am very happy with my decision to do that.

You won't regret it.

Thinking about doing the same and putting 285s on my orp wheels. Any trimming needed?

Yes. Trimming will be needed of the fender wells. You’ll also have to remove and or trim mud flaps if you have them. Most don’t need do to the body mount chop but some do. I don’t.

Expecting to remove flaps and some of the fender. Hoping to be one of the lucky ones who doesn't need to do a BMC for now (Still warrantied lol).

Considering ordering a set 4 285/70s for $225 each to see if they fit ok. IF they dont, anyone want to buy em for less? 200?
