New Falken AT tire (A/T3W)

Just wondering out loud about PSI on my new Falkens. 265/70/17 in E Load.
Using the tire pressure calculator, it gives me 44 psi. I've been at 40 psi since the installation, but about to head out on a road trip (not carrying significant weight).

What say the collective brain trust? Go with the 44 psi? Keep at 40? Inquiring minds want to know.

Quick question: I am going 285/70/17 for sure, but I am debating on exactly what load I want to run. Right now I have 275/70/18 E (60.8 lbs), which has been a phenomenal tire. BUT I am switching to TRD wheels and want to cut as much rotational weight as possible. I am reading on Falkens site that the SL, C, E weight 50.5, 63.7, 58.9.

How is it possible that the C is heavier than the E load? Is anyone in CO running SL and not having any problems getting to hiking/mountain trails?

I’m not in CO, but I have been pleased with my Wildpeaks in a SL rated 285-70-17 on factory Pro wheels. So far, it has been excellent in a variety of terrain off road. Only a little snow use though. 51 lbs each. Speedometer seems to be right on the money now.

Thanks for that! I am now between 255/80/17 (E) or 285/70/17 (SL). The difference is 2 lbs, but I may like having a stronger sidewall and a little taller tire. May just flip a coin and see how it goes. Worse case I get the other size next time!

Which ever way you go, try and get a matching spare at the same time. It will barely fit in the spare tire well, and is a bit more troublesome if you have KDSS. I do a five tire rotation every 5k.

After 5 trips to 4 different Discount Tires, they were finally able to balance my AT3's. I had zero problems with my 285's on my Pro, but these 275's for some reason have been tough. This last DT used road force balancing which has made a huge improvement. Are they perfect? Probably not. Are they close enough? Yes. I'm happy with them now. They are such a great tire in the snow and rain while being pretty quiet so I was frustrated with the wobble from 50-60 mph.

Glad you got yours taken care of.

So far, my 265/70/17’s E load have been problem free after about 2k miles of mixed Hwy and street driving. Even with long 70+ mph runs down I5, no issues.

I've had 285/70 E-load on for about 60k miles now and haven't had a single problem out of them in any condition! One of them needed a plug about 20k miles ago, but it's been just fine since.
From NV, AZ, NM, CO as far as South FL.
Dropped by the local tire shop because I'm hoping to go 285/75 soon-ish and the guy that checked these out said "I'd love to help you spend your money, but even with this many miles, you've got a ton of life left in these"

Your guess is as good as mine. I was aired down to 20psi on a desert road in Death Valley. Nothing crazy or anything happened. It was on my driverside front so no tore spin or anything

Saw it when we were parked for lunch. "That definitely doesn't look right".

Discount is covering it under their tire cert program. Apparently my buddy has had this issue with one of his Wildpeak as well

Interesting. Might have to go check mine. We just did Outlaw Trail in Sedona AZ. We aired down to 25, still rode pretty rough. In the back of my mind I kept thinking I wonder how much better it would be at 20?

I will have one up hopefully shortly. Work has been crazy since I have gotten back, slowly starting to get through all the pictures. Absolutely 100% recommend going. So much to do and see!

I would definitely keep an eye on them. We are both less than 50% of tread on the effected tires. They were riding good at 20psi, we had them down to 15 on the super rough sections. DT has been super solid. They have replaced two Wildpeaks now. First one was my fault when I hit a super sharp rock on the sidewall.

Will these tires lower your MPG, or do only the E rated tires do that?

In the pic in your signature, are you running your “2 2.5”/1” Nitro Gas lift” with stock P265/70/17 tires?
