Well I am back at Toyota now a week later for Toyota attempt #2 at balance. Total attempts will now make 4.Installed mine and had 3 attempts to balance them so far. 2 from Firestone, 1 from Toyota. Still a shimmy between 60 and 70. Going back to Toyota this week for attempt #4 but so far I am really not happy.

I saw them go take it for a ride first and they brought it right into the shop so they must have felt it.
It has been in there for over an hour and a half now. These tires must be giving them fits.

I think the Firestone had no clue. Only reason I went there initially is because the T4R has a lifetime alignment there and I wanted that done at the same time. I do 30k+ miles a year and am not paying Toyota $100+ X 3 over that span just to adjust toe for 20 min...hence the Firestone alignment. There are no discount tires around here that I know of and I had to mail order the tires from DTD.Sounds about the people who are balancing your tires doesn't know how to balance it properly. I bought the exact same time and go it done by Discount tire.. one time shot.
I've had my 285/70/17's on for about 10k miles now w/ no balancing issues at all. I've rotated mine fairly religiously at 3k and they are wearing evenly... Now if I can just get the damn alignment to stay in spec.
Im sold on the Falkens, I really want to run the 285's, but I cant bring my self to sacrifice to much gas mileage, What are you guys running the 285's getting?
90% city driving with a 2.5" lift with undercarriage armor i get 16.4 mpg. Just to add i have had no balance issues and have 12k miles on them. Installed and balanced at local tire shop (buds tire pros). Very happy with on and offroad use. 285LT.
I’m almost 100% sold on the 285s. The P rated ones are only 4 lbs more than the 265s. Gonna switch from trail wheels to the PRO wheels and that saves 7lbs so really the unsparing weight isn’t much different. The biggest mpg change in 285s is whether you get P rated vs E rated which is a significant weight change
7lbs a rim? Damn. I wasn’t planning on rims any time soon, but that could make me want to do them sooner. I’m planning on running P’s.

I hoping to stay at 17 or above, and I was planning on doing the P rated. So maybe the 285 is an option. Ugh. This is hard.

What does everyone keep their 285/70/17 wildpeaks tire pressure at for everyday pavement driving? Are these tires unidirectional? I noticed the sidewall lugs are not symmetrical, so was just curious. thanks.....
Do you have a lift? What about upper control arms aftermarket?
