New Fox 2.5 installed but....

Inked

Did you ever find out what those washers and bolts are for? I purchased the exact setup and after I installed the sway relocation brackets I can't get the sway bar bolted back on. The sway contact the front radiator brackets. I think these washers are to space out the brackets to clear the sway bar.

I called Wheeler's where I purchased this kit. I sent them pictures of the bolts, etc., and they didn't know what they were. They had another coilover set in stock and they opened the package. They didn't have those bolts in there. Their best response was it was probably packaged at Fox with a misplaced hardware pack.

Inked, I'm assuming that you have the sway relocation bars mounted? Do you have much clearance between the sway bar and the radiator brackets?
DannyLlama, I read your old Fox 2.5 thread. Looks like I'm having the same issue you faced. So Fox didn't provide you spacers or directions to lower the radiator bracket? Did they ever give you any resolution about the your sway contacting the radiator brackets? (I know you cut down brackets to clear the sway bar)

These are the additional washers and bolts provided. The installation guide gave no mention other than the relocation bracket bar.

I had more issues than just the sway bar hitting the support bracket. the fox coils were hitting the support bracket and they ended up adding a cup at the bottom of the coil-overs so make more space from the sway bar.

I still I'm unable to center the sway bar and I hear a noise at compression that I haven't figured out yet. Has to do with sway bar, i'm 70% sure.

They make a solid product in regard to performance and longevity.

Their research and testing is horrible... I would do kings if I did it all over again

I got my kit from MRT Motorsports and I don't remember getting that package. I did get sway bar relocation brackets but I didn't put the sway bars back on. I have the remote resivour so not sure if that makes a difference.

Finished installing my Fox 2.5 IFP Non-Res Coilovers and 2.0 Shocks on my SR5. Took longer than expected.

1) Fox told me that their coilovers come pre-loaded set at the max advertised high, 3". After I installed them I only got about 2" of lift. My previous setup was with Bilstein 5100 + OME 2887 590# coils gave me a 2.75" lift with a 105lb steel bumper and 30lb skid. My truck has a very noticeable rake now.

2) Those 4 black spacers and 6 bolts are for the SR5/Non-KDSS Trail/LE models. After you install the sway relocation bracket you are essentially lowering your sway bar and mounting it forward. Your sway will come in contact with the driver side radiator support bracket(they are also used to mount your front skid plate). I bought some 1/4" thick washers from a hardware store because I didn't think the supplied 1/2" spacers would be necessary. I was wrong, 1/4" washers weren't enough to clear the sway bar and bracket. Fox did not provide any information about these spacers in the instructions guide. Fox never got back to me about those spacers/bolts via email or a call back. (This was when I had no idea what the extra hardware was for). Since I installed the 4 spacers I now have a bit of gap between the frame and the front lip of my RCI skid plate. I'm going to fabricate some aluminum bar to fill this gap.

Edit* 4/10/17, Fernando Ramirez Fox's Service Supervisor responded back. So if anybody in the future who buys the 2.5 CO's for the SR5/Non-KDSS Trail/LE 5th gen AND you want to keep your sway bar on. You will need to install those (4) 1/2" spacers & (6) bolts before you can get your sway bar on.

3) Overall, they ride better than my previous 5100/OME combo. Just disappointed with the lift. I just find Fox's customer service and instruction leaves a lot to be desired.

4) I've read that I can use a 5/16 punch to adjust the collar instead of using their expensive spanner?

Robert, be careful using the punch to adjust the collar. It will work, but if you're not compressing the spring prior to adjustment you will run the risk of stretching out the holes on the collar. Not only will it look bad, it will also make future adjustments a big pain in the ass.

That much preload at 2" of lift seems strange to me... What's the weight rating/length of that spring?

Alex, they come with 13" 600lb Eibach coils.

I can't seem to find too many examples on 5th gens with Fox suspension. From the few pics I could find those with a more significant lift(3")have a shit ton of preload, more so than what I currently have.

its not just toyota stuff. They released the same 2.5's for the titans 2 years ago, i bought a set, ended up having to go with aftermarket boxed LCA's to clear the coilover from the CV shaft (selling the shocks just made too much financial sense lmao). The Resi mount was weak and super flimsy, didn't have ext. travel. Talking to FOX about the shocks was a joke. The guys I bought them through were insanely helpful (TAP) but they could only do so much. Fox recently has been through a lot of changes, hopefully soon they get their 'ish together and start taking care of their OEM base.

I have them and I agree mine are torqued for roughly 2 1/4" lift. When I send these in for rebuild, I am getting a 650# spring and the double locking collars.

I modified a long punch to spin mine (yes you need to be careful) the spanner wrench (from Fox) was worthless after a couple of threads.

This thread is kinda scaring me. My Fox lift should be getting out on today. Hopefully my guy doesn't run into any problems.

I did it myself, by myself, had zero issues, 2"+ DSC 2.5's on all four corners, new rear springs + bump stops and I have KDSS.

Don't use a punch to adjust. Just get the spanner wrench. You spent how much on suspension but wanna cheap on a wrench? That's on the same level as pimping your ride from the AutoZone isle. :gun5:

Just like above I did the install myself with no issues. It isn't that had compared to others.

Took it for a 30 mile stretch of the Washington Back Country Discovery Route near Ellensburg. Pounded my new setup on washboards doing 40mph on straight sections. Much smoother compared to the the 5100/OME setup, obvi. Tires rubbed the mudflap/body mount compression since the factory preload is set so low. I'm gonna crank it up higher so I can get my 3" lift back.

That's good to know. The guy installing it is extremely competent, probably too 5 in the state I would bet. What part of Utah are you in?

Looks great! What UCAs are you running?

Salt Lake. It isn't that difficult, my only advice is to avoid a "hammer" mechanic, which sounds like what you have done :)

I'd expect that much preload for a 600lb 13" spring. It's just a little fella.

Bet it rides great with such a low weight rating and the bumper/skids

Took a 5/16" HF punch and did a little grinding to smooth/taper the end. Fit perfectly into the collar holes. Sprayed WD-40 on every turn and it adjusted fairly easily. The tape is where the factory pre-load was set at.

Before: Out of the box factory pre-load.
Now: Additional 12 threads on driver and 10 on passenger.

With this much pre-load I expected it ride like crap but it feels and rides exactly how it was at factory pre-load. When I do a rebuild down the road I'll upgrade to longer/heavier coils.

Was gonna say.. that's a pretty wicked amount of preload. Do you have any figures on how much your front end weighs? I'm glad it still rides good. :thumb:
