"New Grease for the Solid axle"

Would this be applicable to a 2001 4Runner's solid rear axle?

I'm in no way interested at this point in deciding on who's correct, as I don't know enough one way or the other, but I think it would be fairly simple to determine whether or not the factory packs the #2 or a more viscous lube.

Fairly Simple

It should be fairly simple, and it is, all one has to do is look @ the engineering involved to contain a viscous lube in this axle,

as far as applicable for your 2001 rear axle, No, off of the top of my head it would be lubricated by the gear oil in the rear axle ( wheel bearing) or a sealed bearing, have to get Rixxer to make the call on that,

I think it is obvious that the frt axle is designed for a fluid grease, but here is the problem,

I sent a sample to Christo Slee, after he said he would test it out in his plow rig,
the response was, You want me to use a lube that looks like axle seal failure ?

Yep because more often than not it isnt,

So he had the sample for a year of so, and did not use it, So he sent it back,

It is not simple, should be, but it isnt, the Toyota propaganda is well established, and the indoctrination of the Techs, is deep rooted as you can see,

But if you have some ideas would love to hear them,,, No leader in the Toyota aftermarket cares to investigate this, So far I have sent samples to a place in CA called Yota masters, Eric said he would test it out, but nothing,

Sent samples to Longfield, he doesnt think he can do much about it,

The sample to Christo Slee,, nothing, but he did have the common courtesy to send it back,

Crawler dudes wont even look @ it, said they would but then nothing,

so not simple, not at all, but if you know of a independent shop willing to give this a run let me know,

Frank

Your not A Master yet Rixxer,

Where?
I see noone else here who knows anything about this.
You don't even know about this.

That is because your not a Master of the Obvious Rixxer,,

Let me show you some folks that are aware of this,,

CJ3Flyr is on a distinguished road

I can't say for sure what happened at IH8Mud but Frank has put a great deal time and effort into Toyota (and other) solid front axles of the Birfield design. The aftermarket has limited knowledge and access to the magic, mystery grease type the factory uses (a long strand lighter than #2 grease).

Why is it a big deal? Because the 'original build' seems to run 15years, 100k-150k just fine (or some REALLY long time). After that all the Birfield guys have to redo the grease every couple of years and far less miles. He's worked/working to make people aware of how important and how much money they can save with the correct grease type (and how to get it).

Frank's company*, Cruiser Outfitters, does a lot of work with the older Toyo axles in the LC's, 1st gen 4Runners and some SAS's.

Search his username, it's quite an education in grease

* I am unclear if he works/worked there, owns Cruiser Outfitters or what... "Frank's company" may have been a misleading way to make the point.

I hope CJ3flyer dont mind me bringing this back up , since you cant see this,

And of course there is My Good Friend Kurt that speaks of a "Correct Fluid" that lasts 30 years with no problems,

And I met another master of the Obvious down on the Crawler forums,

And of course we have the 2 "Masters" onthe4x4network, Super Sami and Jooper,

So there are a few, and 93 Chewbacca on Mush had some good ideas ,

Yes frank, we already read that.
Just because you've duped a small handfull of people that DON'T KNOW ANY BETTER, doesn't mean you're right.
And frank, last I checked, the owner of cruiser outfitters, told you to stop harassing him, AFTER telling you that you were wrong, and full of manure.
You use Kurt's statement like it somehow helps you, and it doesn't. Nor was it ever meant to.
And you trying to take credit for cruiser outfitters is a whole 'nother scale of wrong.

Rixxer,

Just because Toyota sales has duped a whole bunch of people that DONT KNOW ANY BETTER

Does not mean they are right either,,,

Get It,

Stay in the light Rixxer,

What part of " I've seen factory grease, and It's not what you're trying to sell " can't you understand, frank?

The manual is correct.
YOU, ARE NOT.

Contaminated from What ?

What part of Brainwashed do you not understand Rixxer,,,

You have seen factory grease !!!!!!!!

In the drain buckets of Rigs your fixing for Axle seal failure,,,

The other ones that you seen thick #2 grease inside,,,

A different Grease swapping Brainwashed Monkey of Toyota Sales had already got to it !!!!!

Stay in the light Rixxer,, I know it hurts your head to look @ the white screen and concentrate but you can do it,,,

Keep skirting the question, frank.
Go ahead.

This is completely irrelevant to your truck.
Your rear axle has sealed bearings, and the differential housing is filled with gear oil.
Your front end is independant suspension, with sealed bearings, and a center section that also takes gear oil.
This whole thing applies to 85 and older 4wd toyota trucks, and 97 and older landcruiser, with solid front axles.
And yes, it is EXTREMELY simple.
Me, (and others on various sites) HAVE seen unmolested, factory original, as-built front axles.
frank, has NOT.
He's only seen old, leaking, unkown history rigs, and somehow thinks he's the expert.

Good observations

Haven't you been kicked off of every respectable 4wheeling forum known to man????

Yea I thought so.

Cept this one, so start raising a stink and be respectable and get me kicked of this forum as well,

Dont really care anymore,

That is if you can,

Backwoodsgoop?

Which part don't you understand, frank?

I am fully aware of your brainwashed state,

I have studied this situation and tactics of deprogramming the mind controlled,

I am in full understanding of the situation,

Despite what you may think, I see you making progress, While you may think not you are,

One of the known tactics of deprogramming the mind controlled is attacking the leaders,

Repeatedly, pointing out descrepencys,

Like, Kurt Williams states the Toyota FSM has never listed anything other than a #2 moly lithium grease,

Bobby Long states that oil was used up until 1964

Robbie Anston tech editor of TLCA states a 1958 manual states to use a calcium based grease,,

So you see, the deal here is Rixxer, this is BS

And the problem with BS is that no one can keep the story straight,

you will cave, you will be deprogrammed, and I will bring you out of the darkness,

Then you will Shine, be part of the "Illuminate"

Maybee, Maybee not Rixxer,

What Type of grease is in his sealed bearings ?

One that would last a while you would hope, So probrobly not a #2 lithium grease,

Since that is @ the bottom of the Totem pole when it comes to longevity,

So a sealed bearing that a brainwashed grease monkey like yourself that wouldnt ever mess with other than just swap it out,

And try to be a bit nicer Rixxer, kinda snapped @ the dude, it is relevent to his truck,

Maybee he would like a long lasting grease in his drive-lines and ujoints,

And its got CV joints, with a #1 or thinner grease, the thinner of the two greases in his inboard boot,

No it applies to his rig as well, its got grease in it,,, sealed bearings or not,

You might help your case a bit if I didn't have to reread everything you say 3 times. Good communication goes a long way, especially when you are attacking one of the strongest auto manufactures in the world.

Conspiracy theories are theories. Plain and simple. Until you can prove that Toyota is shafting us, no one is going to believe you. Period.

Find an axle that has never been opened and see what is inside. Find one in a junk yard that was rolled with 20k on it.

I snapped at noone but you, frank.

And so you know, the sealed bearings HAVE WHITE LITHIUM IN THEM.

frank, YOU are ATTEMPTING to brainwash people, and it just isn't working.

The grease is a conspiracy, the aftermarket is a conspiracy, the COLOR OF THE WEBSITE BACKGROUND is a conspiracy. Give it a rest already.
