what you may be beginning to understand is that is a Trade Secret grease,

If this is beyond your understanding we can work on that, a Toyota dealership told me it was private, and it is, and if you want to know what the backwoodsgoop is you have to sign a contract, for both disclosure and non compete,

I did not put hours and hours of study, research to just give it away, You have a sample, for that matter you do not know the data, ingredients of the green grease you use,

So whats the difference ? and really Rix if you cant identify grades of grease, filling your head with all the technical information would just over load you,
Baby steps Rixxer, Identify the grade of grease in these axles which is #1 or #0 and then possibly we could move on,

I am not wrong, Rixxer, and sure my lingo is kinda different but what would you expect from a backwoods grease monkey,,

Now if you want to start learning, and moving this thread in a better direction your going to have to drop the FU mode that your in,

I not wrong, I have worked on Rigs for 20 years, of all shapes and sizes, makes and models,
In the drivetrain, axles, trannys transfercases, engines once in a while,
ASE certified,

Sign up, quit being in FU mode as you say and I can walk you thru this and point out all the things you cannot see,

And if you want to know what that green grease is that you use, Send me a sample, I will run it thru the flame photometer and see what it is,

3 possible Theories as to Why you are not told about this grease, you have commented on none of them,

Theory #2 is shared by long time technical writer Moses Ludel who writes books for both Jeep and Toyota,

You are the expert Rix, but sadly have been misinformed,

There is no guessing about it, this matter has been studied very carefully, every aspect, consulted with professional engineers, Grease specialists other mechanics,

I am not wrong, and I have the engineering of this axle to contain a fluid grease,
and the well known advantage of longevity that a grease of a more liquid nature can provide,

Keep in mind Rixxer, You are the expert, but missing 1 key piece of information,

Idaho Doug is also a "Expert" Kurt Williams as well, a "Self proclaimed" Expert, and mentions of a correct fluid grease known to last 30 years in this application,

There is no guessing, no assumptions, no Bull****, there is a contract for you to sign,

Then you will be the "Expert"

You post pictures of "Factory Grease" in a knuckle that has every appearance of #1 grade,

And say look the book is right, I am right, I am a expert, been diagnosing thinner grades of grease in this knuckle for 15 years as axle seal failure,

Your brainwashed, Rixxer, now others see this as well, but dont seem to want to help you, which is sad,

Jon was one that mentioned that is looked like #1 grade and I spose he is helping you by testing this grease in his Jeep,

So Rixxer come out whenever your ready,

No matter what you say, no matter how you insult, I will be here, in the light of Toyota 4 runner forums to bring you out of the darkness,

because average folks have a lot to gain with knowing that this is not a problem with these axles, merely a form of grease used in production

The stuff you're trying to sell is NOT what came from the factory, in toyota axles.
THAT'S why you wont post up the name of the stuff. You KNOW it'll be INSTANTLY proven wrong.

What came in those axle from production is a #0 or #1 grade grease,

I have posted the name of the Stuff, it is Backwoodsgoop, #0 grade,

For now I just have that #0 grade, I need to find to do more research to establish why or in what application #1 would be required or as to what the difference would be,

But so far dealing with "Experts such as yourself" cannot get the questions answered,
Perhaps the determining factor would be Full or part time applications as far as the need for either #1 or #0

But again cannot find a knowledgeable expert, only brainwashed indoctrinated bad mouthing slanderous clowns,

So step up to level 3 Rixxer before some-one else beats you to it,

Moving on,

Alright Rixxer took a pass, said good bye, so I was going to start another thread but dont want to clutter up the deal so keep it all right here,

Now When I first started a couple years ago and posted on mud, I ran into this individual that stated he worked @ the Toyota information Services,
So here you go,


Admittedly I work in the Information Services department, not out on the floor. That said, my buddies that work on the floor didn't know offhand and I can't find anyone who knows since they don't do that step here anymore.


I trust the FSM because it has worked for so many people and shops over so many trucks that have done 100's of thousands of miles each, so I have no reason not to follow it.

Regarding the fluid, I still don't think the felt wipers would hold a fluid in. Also with a fluid, would the top half of the wipers just dry out? The fluid wouldn't get up there because it would obviously sink to the bottom and there are no rotating parts to get the fluid up there most of the time. Even when the front hubs were engaged, I don't know if the birfields are angled correctly to throw some sort of fluid up there, and as Mark said there is no oil slinger to do this, not on the earlier trucks or the later trucks. The rubber ring and felt wipers on the back of the knuckle would dry out and deteriorate.

So I looked up Toyota information services, and really nothing by that exact name, there is Toyota Information systems, so maybee thats it,

Now on the subject of lubrication for this axle TIS or Toyota Propaganda Services as I like to call it, is under scrutiny,

I can prove that if this guy actually works for Toyota Information Services, intentionally puts out mis information, or to be more accurate dis information

It is because of this service Toyota provides, there are folks getting charged good money to fix things on their vehicles that are "Normal"

so Lets examine this situation,
#1 is there actually a "Toyota information services dept" ?

and this is interesting, when pointing out this design to Christo Slee, He said what the hell are you talking about, ???

"One more piece to the puzzle, on our knuckles, around the front edge is a lip that seals to the spindle, but at the bottom there is a gap in the lip with a corresponding gap in the spindle as well as the gasket that seals the two together. This would leak all the oil or viscous fluid out within 100 miles of driving. I can't pull up a picture because I can't access SOR at work, but hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about here."

Very knowledgeable about the design, even this small detail, and uses it to cast doubt on the ability for this axle to contain a fluid, so lets start with this piece of the puzzle,

Why is this "Drain" machined into the spindle,? I have taken to call it a "Drain" but if someone where to come up with better nomenclature Have at it,

Uneek, What I am about to establish is intentional mis information from Toyota Information services, dept,

So hopefully I can do that, pretty cut and dry, Now that Rix has run his course and bowed out, hopefully I can show you, establish how Toyota information Services uses sites like IH8mud to propagate this dis information,

As far as their motivation for doing this ? How? Why ? I would like to establish that here, but would like to know what guidelines as a Moderator you would like me to follow,

Well I see your back, Okay , Well in your case Rixxer as far as this goes,

You show pictures of #1 grade grease in the knuckle and say look the Toyota sales book is correct,
It is not a lie in your case but brainwashing, I do believe that you do think that the #1 grease you post is #2 because of what your books say,

So in your case Rixxer, its merely brainwashing, I have never really seen a fist hand example of this till now, but plain as day,

In your books Rixxer the ones you follow without question, It states to use a #0 grease in the steering link,

NIGL #0 plain as day, now the sample you have is not the base indicated to use in the books for the steering link but the correct grade,
For me this is overall more important than the base persay, unless dealing with compatibility issues,
So clean out the next steering link you run into and install the #0 grease I gave you,

How bout that Rixxer, this is your information, states to use a #0 grease in the steering link ????

Now as far as installing this in a conventional grease gun, does not work all the good, What I have taken to doing is putting it in a special tool used to force grease into Zerks that are plugged,

Its made by Inovated Products of America or something like that, I kinda hemed and hauged about getting it but I am glad I did, whenever You run into a Zerk that will not take grease, fill these up with a light oil or solvent and smack it with a hammer, forces the old dried up grease out and you can install fresh,

And now this is what I use to install the #0 grease in ujoints, ball joints, steering links ( have Toyota sales backing me on that one) and various other applications,
