Well I finally stopped lurking on the site and joined. Had to, wanted to send a pm about buying some parts, lol. Bought my first 4runner about 8 months ago, a 1999 SR5 4x4 auto model with when I bought it 213k on it. I stole it price wise and this thing is uber clean. Literally bought it from an old lady that had bought it new and she got it with every option you could other than the sunroof. I have receipts and service copies for every single thing that was ever done to it. The first ten years it was only taken to the dealer ship it was purchased from. And after that till I bought it I was taken to one Toyota certified mechanics shop. The lady I bought it from would not even drive it if it was close to needing an oil change until she could go straight to the mechanic to get it done. The first oil change I did, the oil that came out was almost perfectly clear, like new oil. So this rig was well taken care of and should last me a very long time. I will get up some pictures.
I had always heard good things about the 3rd gen 4runners and now I can see why. This is one of if not the best vehicle I have ever owned. Good mileage for what it is, smooth riding and solid off the pavement. I have only done a few trips down The padre Island national sea shore, past little shell to the 25m marker in big shell. It barely broke a sweat down and back. Not sure of what future mods might be in order, it is bone stock now and I am very pleased with it. Plus my family and Chocolate Lab love being able to just load up and take of whenever we please.
