new hu+amp in 4th gen now hiss whine

Installed clarion dxz845+profile 1040 amp 4 channel. When the 4runner is running i get ahiss whine with both front and rear rca's connected if idisconnect one of them does'nt matter witch one the niose is totally gone .I have the amp grounded to the fender well in the rear compartment.I tryed 80 dollar rca 's same thing.Any stereo guros out their please help.

Have you tried Monster Cable? Or a ground Loop Isolater? Several things make the noise. Alternator, bad Ground, etc. Does your ground wire have a clean contact to the chassis? Did you strip paint away to grounding point? If you did all of that try a ground loop isolator and see if that works.

IMO: Monster Cable is a waste of money. From what you are describing, I would imagine that the problem is in the grounding. I would try grounding the rca's first. If that does not work, a ground loop isolator will probably do the trick.

Does the pitch of the sound change with engine speed?

Well they say if you have a whine from the alternator you at least know it is still working! The Monster Cables that I purchased really did alot of isolation of engine noise. They had a grounding pad you screwed into the chassis, but I never did, and it still eliminated the noise. It sounds like Mud purchased some good cables for $80, least I hope.

1. Whats the preout voltage of the deck you have?

2. How high do you have your gains set? Did you use a volt meter to set your gains?

3. How big is the ground wire for the amp? How long is the ground wire?

4. What brand RCA's did you use?

5. How close our the speaker wires or RCA's to the power wire?

Since you already tried expensive cables it's unlikely that you're picking up noise there -- unless you've done something really egregious like run your RCAs adjacent and parallel to ANY power wires. So it's most likely a grounding issue.

Depending on your trucks configuration, the rear right quarter panel may be a very poor ground point. Try running a ground wire (same size or bigger than your power wire) from your current ground point to one of the existing ground points in the truck (under the front passenger seat or either kick panel area). Alternatively, invest in a set of ground loop isolaters.

Properly setup system should never need ground loop isolators.. I have never needed nor would I use them. There can be alot of things that can cause noise in your system.. I need more details of your setup.. Most noise can be fixed with proper setting of the gains and/or using proper grounding. Judging by the amp your using this could be your cause.. Profile=junk

I agree about the Groung Loop Isolator (and the amp), but I usually suggest them to people that don't have a lot of experience with audio/electronics because it is often a quick fix that a novice can do.

I know you where just trying to help... Newbies to audio can make so many common mistakes, I just try to guide them in the right direction when I can. People see big numbers on amps with cheap price tags and assume there getting a decent amp when in fact there not. Yes, there are companies out there that produce decent amps at a good price.. I agree 100%. I see some of the amps that people buy and want to cringe. I would never steer someone toward a cheap POS amp; My above post was only explaining why I suggested the Ground Loop Isolator, I was agreeing about the amp.

Do you have any affiliation with eclipse? I had an Eclipse head unit and some a few years back...they beat everyone else to market with the aluminum cone subs. Haven't tried their newer stuff.

Pre outs are 1.8 volts power wire goes down drivers side across under back seat into compartment. Speaker rcas across fire wall down passenger side they are probably prety close in fender well area. profile 1040 amp 80x4 149.00 $ cheap is that my problem.

I think you have two problems.. One is your preout voltage needs to be better. 1.8volts is probably peak output voltage and not true RMS output. That is easily fixed with a line driver. Profile amps are not the greatest amps and having a amp like that will also give you problems such as whine noise. I would personally get rid of the amp and get something more reliable and with better specs.

A line/level driver has be mounted as close to the headunit as possible so it don't encounter noise, because then it will just amplify the noise to the amps. If you mount it as close to the headunit as possible this will ensure the noise is kept to a minimum. The higher the preout voltage the cleaner the signal and the less a chance of getting noise.

No, I just love Eclipse products after years and years in the car audio realm... I think Eclipse makes the best headunits out there very very clean and excellent SQ.. There subs are awesome especially the SQ subs SW8122DVC's these subs are very clean sounding some of the best I've heard. When you get into the Eclipse Pro series or Ti series subs your talking some very serious SPL. Eclipse is one of the very few Companies to continue to improve there product through out the year without releasing new models to stick the consumer with.. As for there amps I have yet to find a amp like my DA7232 2 channel mono amp, this thing is crazy powerful and like all Eclipse products they intentionally underrate the amps and subs..

They sent me ground loop isolators .I put one on the rear speaker rca no more noise but it killed the volume now i have to turn the fronts way down. I'am going to change the profile 1040 fore a kenwood kac 8402. Is that a much better amp than the profile.Where can i buy line level drivers.
