I have searched the forum and have a request for some insight.

trading in a 2010 SR5 43K no 3rd row. factory remote start and crossbars installed. in very good condition in my opinion.

want to buy the 2014 SR5 PREMIUM no 3rd row and as of now no option except for what comes with the package. may get the running boards not sure.

Can anyone give me some advice or opinions on what prices i should be happy with when I go to the dealer for both my trade in the 2014.

i am hoping to get 25k on my 2010 and get the 2014 for 35k. so it is only 10k out of pocket. not sure if that is reasonable or i can do even better! i am in NJ.

tHANKS!

and if they don't have one on the lot i may order one and have it shipped. not sure if that makes a difference.

also should i try and get what KBB and/or edmunds says i should pay? or less??

why on earth would you switch in a 4 year old 4r with only 43k miles on it? seems like you want to pay more $$ for what you already own.

the most cost effective car to own is the one you already have.

Who cares why he wants to do it. If that's what he wants to do then so be it. He's not looking for anyone's approval...he looking for advice.

As to the OP's original question: I think you might be able to swing it with the right dealer who's willing to make a deal. Good luck.

Id check KBB for the value of yours, then use TrueCar for the value of the one you want to give you an idea of what prices you're looking at.

I've also heard never mention the trade in until you agree on a price for the one you are purchasing.

I've never traded a car in so I can't give first hand knowledge. I've always sold the cars myself and had good luck and got more than what trade-in value was. You could always go that route too.

Good luck.

thank you. dealer offered me invoice price today. not sure if i can do better. i have to see what the offer is on my 2010 still. 25k would be nice.
