that would be nice but the point of the stealthbox is to save cargo space. i don't want to lose my sounds when i travel and need the cargo space. i sleep in the back on camping trips and things. i live at the beach so i always have cargo. right now i have infiniti kappa 6 1/2 seperates all the way around and my amp is under the passenger seat.

My point exactly....I'm trying to find the least invasive method to get an amp and 10" sub. I was thinking that it would be better to have a shallow box behind the seats versus the stealthbox to the right of the cargo area....I also did not want to attach the amp to the back seat.

The other option would be to build a sub box/amp rack under the cargo shelf...I am pretty sure I can fit it with the 9" depth....but once again....significant loss of cargo area.

I would be very curious to see what amp you have under the seat...can you give me the dimensions of the amp or the brand/model....I assume you have a 4th gen also? This would be a nice option.....a JL 300/4 under the seat, front channels driving some seperates up front, headunit driving the rear doors and rear pillar, and then the rear channel bridged running a JL 8" mounted in the factor JBL sub box.....I need to do some more work on this concept...namely amp mounting space and if there is enough airflow around it so it does not overheat. Then I need to look at the factory sub enclosure and measure the volume. I guess if it was not large enough, then you could have a custom box fiberglassed for the space...sounds expensive.

I'm putting in a sub in the next couple of days (as soon as it gets here from crutchfield) I asked the tech support guy from crutchfield about the easiest way of getting at the sub to run an amp, and the instructions he had were to remove the whole inside right panel of the cargo area. Is this what everyone else did to get at their factory sub, or is there another easier way?

i am going to get some pics of my install today. i put the amp under the passenger seat. i think someone was asking about which amp i had, it is the fosgate 551x 4 channel. the only downfall to mounting it under the seat is you have to remove part of the vent system which heats up the rear passengers feet. i didn't care because i drive the thing. LOL. you simply pull it off and plug the hole up. you can fit a pretty good size amp under the seat this way.

the bad thing about the jl stealthbox is it is only a 10w0 which is bottom line jl audio

You can fit a decent size amp under the passenger side seat. I have an amp running right now

It's an old amp but it works!

That JL stealthbox looks nice. Do you know if JL just sells the enclosure w/o the sub? I already have a pair of JL's that I can use so I don't see why I'd need those. Does someone want to make one instead? I could definitely use a mock one as I really don't have room to hold my current setup.

if you're making one, you think you can make one for me? I'd need it to fit a 10, if a pair would work that'd be better. Btw the cubby hole I use has been gutted out so I have ample room

When I spoke with a JL rep, I also asked about a box without the sub. And he said all the stealth boxes come with a sub and no option to buy them without a sub.

Nope, it's still there. I have the amp on the passenger side. On the driver side I have an aux circuit unit.

Both sides still have the vent but not like it really works... figure as long as the amp fits there it's okay.

don't you worry about overheating the amp with the heater on? it blows right on it. i pulled the first section off and plugged the hole up.

I have the amp mounted and the mount covers the heater plug completely so I have no worries. I've yet to experience any problems w/ the amp also.

umm not really. I don't have a dig cam so it's abit difficult to show.

All I did was get a sheet of plywood and mounted it on there. The amp itself is flat enough that a 1/4" think sheet would be okay.

To get a good size of the sheet to use, I just unbolted the seats (14"mm bolts - 4 of em) and then disconnected the 2 seat plugs for the "someone doesn't have their seatbelt on sign". Took a good look at how big to make it and then cut and paste. The board itself is not mounted on the surface of the ground as I didn't want to drill into the Body. I ran the power lines, etc etc under the carpet which required me to remove both front seats. Easy to do and the carpet is easy to remove. Btw you can also remove the center console area too (but I figure u already know that)

If anyone has the specs of the JL stealthbox, please let me know. I want to build this box badly, but don't want to go through the tedious process of trying to figure it out by measuring every angle inside the cargo area.... then building, correcting through trial and error.
