New Leather Band for my Seiko...opinion?

Hey all,

I am still undecided about this ostrich leather band for my Seiko. This is a Seiko SKJ076...titanium with day/date. In addition, one of my favorite feature is that the WHOLE dial glows in the dark...so, literally, it is like flashlight at night! (And it lasts the whole night too!)

Anyway, i was never fond of the titanium band that it came with (two tone) because it feels cheap (lightness of titanium does not help either). Don't get me wrong, i love titanium for what it is, but in a watch band, it does not lend to a quality feel. So, i have been searching for a watch band. And i came across this at my local mall. It is genuine Ostrich leather "padded" band with butterfly gold deployment.

What do you guys think? Like or hate or indifference?

Thanks for your input...i am going to wear it thru today and see.... So far, i like it...it gives my watch a different personality.

I like the different band, it makes it look like a different watch!

I have 2 Seiko's, both are rock solid! You can't go wrong with them.

Tell me about it!! I bought this Seiko new from dealer about 2 years ago...it had been sitting in the showroom case for EIGHT years! It is accurate to about 0.5-1 second every 2 days. Never missed a beat...and it is the watch that i take to the gun range and outdoor activity.

My other watches include Omega and Rolex. Rolex started to show issues after about 5 years (date wheel not functioning...and timekeeping off). Omega is currently in for warranty work because date wheel sticks at times...2 years into ownership.:wtf:

Yeah, as you can tell, i am sticking with my Seiko...reliable and durable. Omega and Rolex are like Audis...great to look at with cool stuff, but unreliable as a Land Rover! :moon:

X2 on the new band! It looks different and better. Im starting to like leather or rubber bands more than metal bands. They just seem heavy.

The one thing that always happens to me. I am working on the truck or bike and I hit the watch on something...so then I have to take it off. My metal bands always get beat up because I never think to take off my watch until I am mid project.

My other Seiko has some sun Fading on the spinning diver part, it was deep red and blue, but now it looks more like a dark pink and blue. However that watch is over 15yrs old, wearing it every day.

I have never owned a Rolex but I do like the look of some of the Omegas. I think the Rolex is more of a "Gentleman" watch which should be babied a little more than I want to treat it. I really like the analogy with the Audi, I totally get that!!!

I'm a TAG fan myself. I have a 20+ year old hand-me-down TAG that has been outstanding but the age is showing. I need an overhaul on it and it needs to be pressurized. I found this awful website but it has good info. Any chance this shop is near you in that big state of Texas?

Well, after i got my Omega back from service in May (2011), it was running well...until this: (sticky date strikes again!)

Just to update my watch thread, here is the new polyurethane rubber band with my Seiko:

This is a polyurethane black rubber band with orange stitching (to go with my gold accents on the watch). It looks like leather! But, because it is polyurethane rubber, it is water resistant etc.. The clasp is Omega-style...so that the extra band hides under the other band. The whole contraption weighs in at ONLY 58 grams (or 2 ounce)!
