New Limited owner, some early thoughts and questions

I picked up my black 2011 Limited on Friday and had some time to play with it over the weekend. First, the tire width is comical. It looks like it's sitting on blades or something. Just from an appearance standpoint next to other suv's it's weird. I'm sure people are upgrading wheels and tires so what seems to be the standard sized swap for stock suspension? (Smaller diameter but wider wheels?)

The brake pedal is a bit soft and the steering a bit loose. My other car is a BMW M3 so I'm used to tight, responsive feelings from the car. I expect different from a truck though so it just takes some getting used to. The interior is nicely laid out and really comfortable. The exterior styling is definitely aggressive but it has grown on me and I really like it. I just saw an earlier model 4Runner today and I thought it was bland.

For those with nav... after selecting an audio source, does the system automatically put the screen back to the nav map? Is it possible to just leave the audio screen on until I select the map manually? When I'm riding around locally I don't have a need for the map and I'd rather see what's playing on the radio.

So far I love the truck. It could use a little more power but it is what it is. Hopefully soon I can find somewhere off road to put it through it's paces. Glad I chose the Runner over a domestic. Can't bnelieve I almost considered that....:ybrick:

Your comment about wheels and tires is pretty common. Just use the search function and you'll have more than you care to read about that topic.

The brake pedal feel is a bit soft/squishy. However, you'll get more used to it. The brakes are actually pretty decent, you just have to press a little more than you're accustomed to doing. The handling, thanks to the XREAS, is pretty decent for a BOF SUV this size. You're correct in not expecting a vehicle like this to handle like a M-Bimmer.

Yes, you can make the display stay put on your nav unit. Read your manual - it'll tell you how to adjust that setting.

I'm coming up on 15k and the engine has loosened up - you'll see the same happen over time. Mine started loosening up after 1k miles and has since improved even more. Again, don't expect it to perform like your M3, but it's pretty decent for a heavy BOF SUV. I drive "briskly" in city traffic without any problems.

I look at my LTD tires and think good fuel economy and good bite in the snow for an all season. Cup is half full.
