New Lower Ball Joints Corrected Steering Slop and Wheel Bounce

Brian you cured your "jitters"?! Congrats. When I replaced my uppers and lowers back in June it made a big difference for me too.

I got my Toyota OEM LBJ for $83.95 each at shoptrd.com. When you buy over $100, you get free shipping. Then I ordered the Outer Tie Rods from them for $50 each -again buying 2 gave me free shipping again. Total bill was $267.90 and all new genuine Toyota parts. Figure if I got over 130k out of the original parts, then I'll get another at least another 100k out of the new genuine parts being lifted 2".

Napa does sound like a great deal with lifetime warranty, but I'm not about to switch out my LBJ's every 2-3 years. It'd be awesome for those that offroad often and put lots of stress on their suspension.

Is there a reason why the beefier tacoma outer tie rod is only $37 and some odd change on this site? It's about $13 cheaper than the OEM 4runner outer tie rod end. Doesn't make much sense. However, the tacoma ball joint is around $92 which sounds right since the 4runner one is just slightly cheaper.

These prices for OEM aren't that far off from NAPA, so is it the lifetime warranty that draws most people on this board to the NAPA LBJs??? I'm about to pull the trigger on a set so this is very helpful. I just replaced my steering box, rack and pinion, bushings, brakes, and went back to alloy 4runner rims. I eliminated my tire vibration and she runs smooth now but I did notice some tire wear on the drivers side up front so I'm going to try and address that. She runs straight but breaks a little to the left and pulls a little when turning right. This could be due to the tire wear. The current LBJs appears to be tight but I don't know the history of the truck so I'm going to replace them.

Wondering if anyone has any more updates?

Brian have you gone ahead and changed out your NAPA LBJ's yet for any reason?

I'm ready to pull the trigger on this-my 99 is now at 130K miles and while I don't off road all that much any more-I figure better safe than sorry.

It's great you took the time to get this started some 4+ years ago-I know it's a topic often covered, but considering it can lead to catastrophic failure it is an important one.

Are the NAPA ones greaseable? Are the OEMs? Is this an issue toward ensuring longer life?
