I just joined up with the forum and am looking forward to getting to know you guys. I'm from North Carolina.
I expect to buy a 4runner in the next few days, either new or slightly used (I really don't like working with dealers, hence will purchase used with 10,000 miles or less if I can find a reasonable deal).
I really can't find many individual sellers of 2011/2012 4runners.
I'm also having trouble figuring out the best way to procee. Any advice, along the lines of best dealership (and/or specific salesman to work with)? Same for any Internet resources that can help a buyer find the right car (SR5 4 wheeler with moonroof and NO navigation).
I guess I'm looking at the Convenience pkg not the premium package. I want leather but I figure I'll be best off to just get cloth and then have a private shop leatherize it for me (I've been told this will be about $1,350). I think I'll do the same for a backup camera, that is have someone after the sale install one for me. Also any other options you guys really think are good?
Also what post deal charges are valid? I find it difficult for example when a dealer sells me a car and then charges me $600 or so in "documentation" fees to take my money. That's after $800 from the factory for bringing it to their own dealership in the first place etc. etc. (I recently bought a motorcycle and a notary documented the sale for us, seller and buyer, at absolutely no charge!)
