New member: front passenger window intermittent

Greetings all! I'm new here... I'd also like to ask a question in my first post, if I may.

I have a 2000 4Runner SR5 (154K miles). Yesterday, I raised the front passenger window about 3/4 of the way on the drive home. When I pulled in my driveway, I power up all the windows and closed the sunroof...except the passenger window didn't move.

I turn off the ignition, turned it back on and tried again from the driver's control panel and the passenger side control. Nothing. An hour or so later, I went out, manhandled the window glass a bit, turned on the key and the window worked fine.

Still later in the evening, I went out to investigate further and again the window refused to work from either control. This morning, it was working fine again. However, I'm reluctant to roll it down very far as it's rainy here this week and I don't want it stuck in the down position.

I should note, that when the window works, it's not particularly slow or noisy. I've repaired a problem with a rear window last year, so I'm somewhat familiar with the innards. But, before I order a new motor, is it likely to be something else? Should I pull it apart and check the wiring before I spend the money on a motor?

Thanks!
