New Member Intro (98 4Runner)

I know I could have put this in the intro section, but given I will likely spend all of my time here, I wanted to introduce myself here. :)

I've been actively looking for a few weeks and driven/looked at a handful of basket case trucks before finding this one for an awesome price after a bit of negotiating.

Its a '98 Limited with 190k miles and an E-Locker. While all belts, tires, air filter, trans fluid, etc look very new, because I don't have maintenance records, I will be tackling the timing belt, water pump, and potentially LBJ in the coming months (as they looked a bit perished).

The driver's seat bottom cushion is pretty rough, so I will be ordering a new one off Ebay for replacement and potentially either disabling the antennae or installing the fixed whip antennae. Finally the rear bumper rust isn't terrible, but being as I am super anal about my cars, I may well swap that for a replacement as well.

In addition to the 4Runner, I also own (2) BMW E36 M3s. A '95 M3 with 37k miles and every bolt-on mod under the sun:

....and my most recent project being an M3 sedan with an MK4 Supra motor (2JZ GTE) running ProEFI ECU among a ton of supporting mods to the tune of 775whp and 750wtq @ 27psi (32.5psi is max boost..but I worry about windowing my block with the stock rods at that level). Still a work in progress.

Hey! I'm new here as well. I am coming from driving cars my whole life and ended up driving a 97 4runner because my camaro was stolen last tuesday.

Are you buying a whole new drivers seat?

Sorry to hear it. I've had something from just about every genre in the past 5 years:

1997 F250 Powerstroke (10" Lift, 38.5" Boggers):

2003 996 Turbo (sold to embark on the Supra Swap):

2005 Modified WRX Wagon:

No, for now just the seat bottom to have a local upholster install.

What do you do for a living?

My driver side seat has horrible tears and I'm using seat covers right now. I haven't really looked as to what my options are, but I'm guessing what you are doing is cheaper than replacing the entire seat?

The replacement cushions are $200 on Ebay and then labor should be in the $50 or so range I am estimating.

Not sure what the going rate is for a used seat, but I imagine more than that (and the replacement seat would likely be well worn just the same).
