Good afternoon all..
I have been looking here for months but figured it was time to post !!

my 96-4runner has been amazing for 210k. I have been digging around here for a solution to a new issue.

A few weeks ago I had to replace the rear deferential seals .. thanks to everyone here I was able to get it done with no big issues, except ABS warning light will not reset ??

running great until this past week.. starting issues

turn key - interior lights come on, seat belt beeping the usual. turn to crank ... nothing .. one click ( not multiple clicking ) lights will go out during crank try,, but after release interior lights will come back on..
this will happen 2-3 times, then it may catch to start. its a hard start and may take more then one turn.

Everything I am reading lists out my options but Im hoping to avoid the dreaded replacement of my starter. that seems to be so well hidden I need tiny baby hands to get it out. or a Christmas miracle !!

I know my good jumping off point will be battery, question 3 ... can I jump it to try and start without causing any damage (or further damage)

If it were me and I thought there was a chance it was my battery, then I would certainly try to jump it. If it starts, then problem may be solved, If not, I'm afraid my next move would be the starter :fear:

got a new battery, jumping still a no go.. she will crank but still no start. Its has fuel, seems to be getting spark.
starter sounds good its just not getting there. sadness... is there a possibility of ignitor, relay, or intake sensor? all I am hoping not the problem $$.. is there a way to inspect these for issues or is it just a replace and cross your fingers situation?

just an update ..
with all these issues..
checked all spark plugs got to last one, pulled it and threads came out with it .. sooo there ya go

No solution, but welcome to the board. I'm nearby in Clinton. I usually frequent Wilmington during the summer, however I don't know how much I will this year with all the new restrictions on Carolina Beach. May start going to Portsmouth Island in the Outer Banks. Anyways, we should get together and wheel sometime.

once I get back running a little sand on the tires is not a bad idea..im here all the time !!!
