New methods to adding Aux Input?

Hi all,

It's an age old question but I figured I'd revisit in case I missed anything. I have a 2005 limited with nav, single disc player. All i want to do is the ability to add an AUX input so I can play my music. I don't desire a USB cord if that makes any difference.

Is Grom the way to go? Is there any other method? I believe I have the E7005 head unit.

I know this topic has been beaten down. I have a $100 gift card to Bestbuy, is it possible for me to get a touch screen headunit from there that can support AUX that would be a plug and play? Or is my best bet to find something like GROM?

Just want something reliable.

I am also wondering about this. My CD changer started failing last summer and finally bit the dust a few months ago. Bought a used OEM radio off here and the CD changer was busted on that too. Now I am looking for an AUX input for my 2003 with the JBL system.

Not for $100 AFAIK. You can get a non-touchscreen single DIN with aux (and bluetooth) in that price range. But at least for the jbl system the adapters to make it work with the stock amp are pricey (>$50).

My 07 (jbl, non-nav) has an aux input inside the center console, but I'm not sure which model year that came out.
 
I have a USA Spec Bluetooth adaptor in my 2004 4R and it works great for music and phone calls. Plugs into the back of the stock head unit and the steering wheel controls work. Search for USA Spec Bluetooth for your 4R on Crutchfield.com.

My 06 has the factory nav and bluetooth that works fine for the phone. Anyone know of a way to tap into that bluetooth capability to play other audio from my smartphone or another device?

For $30 you can't go wrong, especially with Amazon's return policy.
I have an 06, which has the Aux input in the center console, but I'm still thinking of picking this up for the USB in.

I had a bad experience with the USA spec that I ordered. Ended up replacing it with a GTA car kit Bluetooth adapter. Much better quality and includes a usb charging port and aux line in as well.

GTA Car Kit seconded. I bought one and it works great, although sometimes it's a bit finicky with disconnecting/reconnecting the bluetooth automatically when I get in my car.

the oem bluetooth will not work with music well. i made a video with bluetooth from headunit and it only plays in the drivers speaker and is not good quality. i dont know if you have an aux imput in your year like i do in my 09 but i got a bluetooth receiver that i powered off the outlet in the console then had an aux cable and i was done. all in all i had to spend $10 for parts i did not have

Do you have to have an aux option/button on the head unit for this to work or does it play through the CD mode? Thanks!

I know I may be a little late to answer this and help you but I figured I would answer for anyone else. The GTA Car Kit does not require you to have an oem aux plug-in or button.

You can get what you need from Best Buy but not for $100 ;).

You can PM me with any questions if you need help with your install, whether it be a new radio or an CD emulator.

Hah for sure. Thanks for that. I am still at a blank of what to actually buy. When it comes to this type of thing I need someone to literally forcefeed me a solution. I just can't figure out what is compatible or not.

I figured the $100 would obviously cut out a little bit of the cost. I was hoping to not spend more than $400 on hardware+Install to get this done.
