The most current version is 4.1. I believe it was released about 2 months ago.

I don't know because I never had the older version. I've only had my navigation system for about two months now.

If I remember correctly, the new DVD is about $180.

Where did you get it? How much? When i called the dealer they told me its not out yet...

I have version 2.1 in my 03 4runner now. Is the 4.1 version made for the 4runner?

A dealer here in Norhtern Virginia said the new version DVD was $250 and they are not keeping them in stock....have to order it...

Are there any significant improvements between the new DVD and the previous version (I live in the northeast). I hope so. Compared to the ACura nav in my wife's car the Toyota system is pretty poor.

since the dvd-rom is read-only, your settings will not be stored on the dvd itself. the settings has to be saved in the head unit, therefore will still be there when you switch dvds.
