New Owner of '05 Limited 4WD V8

I picked up my Galactic Gray Mica '05 Limited 4WD V8 yesterday morning in Laurel, MD.

Here is the list of goodies so far:

NAV
Side Curtain Airbags
Factory Spoiler
XREAS
Moonroof
Wireless Headphones (I don't think I will ever use these as I don't have kids)
Floor Mats

I was suprised to have the following in the car when I picked it up:

Toyota First Aid Kit
Toyota Emergency Assistance Kit
Hitch Tongue w/ Harness
Double Decker Mat and Net
Addtional Cargo Net

I managed to also get the $1000 rebate from Toyota.

While driving back to NC I had the opportunity to play with the sound system. Unfortunately I am very dissappointed in the quality of the sound. The music sounds distorted and sloppy. I am thinking about switching out the speakers for the system. I am not big on bass, but would rather have a clean sounding system than an thumping system. I heard people suggest to turn on the "surround" setting. I was unable to find that setting on my NAV unit. I wonder if the surround setting was removed from the 05 NAV units. If you have any suggestions or experienc with the speaker swap please let me know.

I have been extremely impressed with the V8 engine. There is ample passing power in this automobile and am looking forward to towing my boat with the 4Runner.

One last thing...the redesigned spoiler looks frickin huge! It looks out of place. I hope I get used to the look of it. It does seem to do better deflecting the dust particles.

This is my first SUV and it is quite different from the Lexus IS300 that I used to drive. I have been pleased with my Lexus and wanted the GX470, but I could not justify the $10,000 price difference. I know I made the right choice and look forward to many years of ownership.

I have found this site very helpful and used it extensively in deciding to purchase the 4Runner.

Just welcoming you to the board. I don't have answers to any of your questions. On my single disc JBL, you just have to push in the tuning button a few times and it allows you to toggle on/off the surround. I don't have a clue about the navi systems or if they removed the center channel on the 2005s. If you look at the center of your dash, you should see a speaker grill. If its missing that, it'd be your first/biggest clue.

Yeah, the sound system on my '98 Camry is much better than on my 4Runner. Happily for me, the quality of the sound system is not high on my list of priorities.

Just my luck. The dealership said they were expecting some snow. I may have to take a road trip one weekend to find the white stuff.

I can't wait to test out the 4WD. I was thinking of taking the 4Runner down to Carolina Beach. At the North end they allow you to take your automobiles on the beach.

Galactic Gray is one of the very popular colors for 4Runner.
Hitman has one,
I have one,
now Gsr2is300 has one.

There is an Assateague island national park at Maryland border with Virginia, where offroad on the beach (sand) is permitted. I went there for camping and kyaking but never had ORV.

I've been looking at buying a 4runner in the next couple months. Looking for the same options you have on a V8 limited.

The sales guy told me that V8 Limiteds with XREAS are really hard to find. Is this true? That would be a deal breaker for me.

Glad you got that combo though. Nice color too! Trying my best to convince my wife to get that color instead of silver.

Welcome to the boards. If you haven't figured it out already, there are seemingly thousands of us here who are always happy to lend advice and opinions (even bad ones ) in regards to any questions you might have.

I don't have your NAV system but if you can't get it working the way you would like, try doing a search in audio and electronics and I bet you will find some old posts on how to upgrade something in the system to your liking.

Great color choice. I went with the stratosphere mica, but that choice only assists me in coming to terms with my deranged need to wash my car weekly. Especially since I am up in NE.

I got really lucky with the options. I wanted NAV, XREAS, Spoiler, Sunroof, and Side Curtain Airbags.

Apparently the Maryland Toyota Distributor only orders Limited V8s with two packages both have XREAS:

Thanks for clueing me in on the standard packages. I did some research on Toyota's website. It looks like depending on region, dealers get different package options.

S. CA V8 4x4 Limited package #B does NOT include XREAS!
