new part issues

I have a 99 limited V6 4wd. I recently purchased an Airraid throttle body spacer and air intake kit along with a Borla exhaust kit. The problem is now the truck runs like crap. I have never had any problems before now the check engine light is on it idles up and down almost to the point of stalling. I contacted Airraid and they claim it can't be due to their product however, I am pretty certain it is something with air management. I wouldn't think the exhaust would do it. Does anyone have a Borla exhaust on a similar model because I am not real thrilled with the sound out of it either.

you might try pulling the battery for 10 minutes. That will reset the ECU, perhaps something is going on with the added air coming into the engine. Also, make sure your MAF/MAP is connected, and make sure you didn't damage it when you re-installed it with the intake. I know if you unplug that sensor, it will make the check engine light come on, and will make your car idle wierd, because of the fact it has no clue how much air is coming in. Wow, now thats a run-on sentence. My 5th grade teacher would have killed me about 20 years back. ;)

I have tried disconnecting the battery several times, but that doesn't seem to work. I contacted Borla to see if they have ever had any issues with their exhaust setting off the engine light. They said it might for the first 3000 mi. and not to disconnect the battery because it sets the computer back to the factor settings each time. Has anyone ever had this issue? I still think the problem may lie with either the air intake or throttle body spacer though. Can you use the throttle body spacer with the stock intake? Is there any benefit of doing this? I was thinking I probably should have just done the deck lid mod instead. I wish I would have found this site first.

Put in your stock air intake and test it out. Or take out your throttle spacer. One after the other, you will find the solution. But i'm pretty sure the air intake is not the problem. Rarely heard anything about the throttle spacer. Since i heard from the T4R users that it doesn't work very well, so i guess no feedback of how good nor bad it is. But for the Borla exhaust, i have no comment because i don't own one. I heard they were good though. But good luck.
