New runner owner

Hello everyone I am the pround new owner of a 04 runner. I have always been a toyota guy as I also have a 85 runner cralwered out. I purchased the 04 used and only got one key and remote. I am curious the process to get a new key (dealer only?) and second keyless remote (programing my self or not?) Thanks.

Congrats!
As far as I know, you can get new key and new remote from anywhere (e-bay for example). You can program remote by yourself (most remotes from e-bay comes with programming instruction) but to program key you will need to go to the dealer and I believe they charge around $50.00 for that.

If I recall you can program both the key and the FOB yourself. It should be in the Owners Manual.

I think progress is right....you can do the remote yourself but the key has to be done by the dealer.

got remote

I got the second remote now. went and programmed through the door/ignition method and it works great, but now my other remote wont work. I tried reprograming it and them the new one stopped working. How do I program both to work? Do I need to do them at the same time?
