New Shocks and Tires!!!

My Bilstein 5100's have been on backorder for two weeks! Shockwarehouse tells me they will be in next week. Putting some Mickey Thompson Baja STZ's on this afternoon, 265/70/17. Has anyone got any experience with these tires?

What are you setting the 5100s at and did you do anything to the rear? Spacers or a different coil spring?

Probably two inches in the front. My plan is to add a little heavier spring in the rear and bring it up an inch at the most. Want to keep some rake and have enough spring to tow a 20 foot bass boat and it not settle too much....

Bilstein's finally made it!! Headed to the shop for an after hours install and alignment.:thumb3: Pics will be up in a few hours. Looks like 1.75 will be the setting to use until I can afford some rear mods. "I am giddy as a little school girl!" Channeling my inner Dieter from Sprockets......

It's great! The stock shocks are still on the back but it made a ton of difference in braking. The backs will be coming next week. I am shallow I know cause it is all about the looks for me!

Haha, well it looks good so far! :thumb3: I have a silver SR5 and have been contemplating doing almost the same exact thing as you... some Bilstein's all around to help the ride and level it up some + some new tires. Did you install the shocks yourself?

No, I used to sell Toyota's at Lander's in Little Rock. The main man in the tire and alignment shop did it for me. They put it on the alignment rack, jacked up the front, pulled the old and installed the new with an alignment in less than an hour! Having a pro with a spring press is highly recommended. Unless you know what you are doing, I would not mess with those coil-overs!!! I will put the ones on the rear myself unless I get some heavier springs to go with it. You can tell a huge difference in the damping between the Billies and the stock's in the rear. It is amazing!!!
