New Sonoran Steel lift (Modified OME)

Hey Everyone,

Not sure if anyone has been on his site recently, but Steve just came out with a new lift. He uses 880/890 but makes a modified piece for the OME shock to give a left 3" like his 7.2. What's everyone's thoughts on this? I had a hard enough time deciding if I wanted 7.2 or 1.2 but now I have this too.

This is just add on spacers, a panhard bar and diff drop kit, you still need to purchase a lift kit.

I definitely realize that. I also am not sure I am sold on using 880 up front instead of the tundra spring but just wanted to get people's opinion since this is $200 cheaper than 7.2 and puts it probably pretty close to toytec ultimate kit in terms of price.

geez... It kinda rips on some of the other kits with top plate spacers. It sounds like the lift adjustment is made by basically raising the coil spring seat? So it would be similar to what the Rancho quick lift does. Interesting concept, I'm suprised no one has done it before.

Could one argue that the OME shocks are not designed to have their coil seat raised? I know OME makes trim packers, but they are a mere 5mm.

I've been also advised that the rear panhard bar doesnt necessarily need the bracket with the 890's in the rear.

Who's going to give this a go first?

I think Toytec's spacers for the 881s (to give 3") are just as good as his "shock adjusters" which are just spacers too. IMO, 881s are better for the 4runner than the 880s anyways. The 4runner is heavier than a Taco and 881s are still light-med duty springs (plus most of us start adding weight once we start wheelin anyways). The 881s are a lot more common on our trucks when doing a 3" lift than the 880s and pretty much everyone that has the 881s loves em.

Diff drops are ~$30 all over the net (including Toytec). SS's is nice because it's tapered but that's not neccessary at all - just a creature comfort.

I have been lifted for several years now without an adjstable panhard/modified brackets and have yet to see a problem. I changed my shocks ~6 months ago and had no abnormal wear on my rear pass side upper shock stud.

SS lifts are the best around, but if you're just talking accesories, you can get a diff drop and shock spacers from toytec for <$100.

You should get it and give it a try! If you are sure that you want 3" total suspension lift then you are good to go, personally I think OME is the way to go and Steve obviously knows what he is doing. Are you going to wheel your rig? If you haven't checked into it yet look @ doing the adjustables up front and going with landcruiser coils for the rear, everyone that went that route loves there set up. I again, am OME all the way love the ride, the flex is great and although I have a little rake when I am fully loaded I sit level and the ride still is quality!!
