New suspension clunking a lot

A couple days ago I had the suspension on my 2016 4R upgraded to King coil overs and new rear springs. Ever since this was done, the suspension is very noisy -- lots of loud clunks and dull rattles over minor road bumps. Is this normal during the break-in period or do I need to have it checked out?

My 4Runner is a Trail with KDSS.

I've looked at the shocks and tried jiggling them to see if anything is loose but nada.

The sounds come from all around, not just front or rear. Some even seem to come from the middle/sides, under the front seats, which doesn't make much sense.

Have it checked out, suspension should be mostly free of noise under normal conditions. My guess is something loose or improperly installed. Could be your slider mounts too.

I checked the sliders, nothing loose there.

Might just need everything checked for torque values. I was under mine a few times making sure I snugged everything proper. Did it again after the trip to AZ. My LE being non KDSS I can't comment on it, but wondering if it is making noise?

I replaced the swaybar links on my wife's escape & booth sides clunked until tightened the bolt properly. Probably a good place to start.

What you describe is generally from a bolt or two being too loose somewhere in the system and the weight of an engine/vehicle managing to exacerbate whatever gap is present. A quick visual spot-check of all of the shocks to ensure none of them are leaking is worth the 3 minutes it generally takes.

On second thought, after recalling some of your other posts, take it back to the shop that installed the suspension. Clunking is not normal and you paid for it to be installed correctly, the first time.

Well I took Megaweapon in to the Truck Shop this morning and had them check out the noises. I don't know exactly what they did but it's now noticeably quieter. However, they said that a lot of the noise was coming from the bumper rubbing on the fenders, etc -- not from the suspension. They will be doing some more adjustments to the bumper on Thursday.

When I had my AOR steel bumper installed the tolerance was super tight up against my fenders. Any time I drove over bumps on the road I would get a clunking noise which sounded from the wheel well area. Took off my wheels and re-torqued all the shock/sway bolts. Noise was still there. Trimmed more of the plastic fender liner and used a heat gun to mold areas which could cause any sort of rubbing/tapping caused from bumpy roads. Nope, clunk was still there. Finally took off the bumper and realized the wings on the bumper were coming in contact with the fenders. The bumper was flexing against the fenders. The paint underneath the fenders and the finish on the bumper wings have worn off. I lowered the bumper by 1/2". Noise gone. I'm not sure how the "one piece" bumpers like the metaltech and pelfreybilts are with adjustments though.

Finally took off the bumper and realized the wings on the bumper were coming in contact with the fenders. The bumper was flexing against the fenders. The paint underneath the fenders and the finish on the bumper wings have worn off.

Yeah, that's exactly what's happening on mine.
