I'm excited to see ARB enter this market, but I have so many questions about things like spring rates, base valving vs. revalving, rebuildability, the mechanics of their bypass mechanism and mechanics of their adjustability (tuning bypass tubes vs. tuning flow into the resi), etc. etc. I'm sure they've done their homework over 4 years but at this point but unlike standard OME setups which are incumbents, they'll be the new kid in the block vs. King, Fox, Icon, Radflo, etc.
That being said, if they deliver equivalent performance, the BP-51 pricing is competitive with the incumbents, if not slightly less expensive.
They also said you don't need UCAs for the older OME stuff, which is true, it will work without them, but you won't have a good alignment. No reason you can't use any of the aftermarket UCAs with these new shocks, or the older OME lifts. The only thing that has me concerned as someone looking for a 3" lift, is that someone in the youtube comments asked if ARB would be making UCA's to go with these coilovers, and the response from ARB's youtube account was that UCA's are not necessary for this setup, so they probably won't be making them. They couldn't have just magically created coilovers that give 3" of lift but still allow for proper alignment with stock UCA's right?

yeah, that's been ARB's party line since the introduction of the 5th Gen: "new UCAs not required." however, when pressed with questions re: the fact that their original 5G 4Runner show rig was well out of alignment spec, they went completely dead silent on the subject. They also said you don't need UCAs for the older OME stuff, which is true, it will work without them, but you won't have a good alignment. Hello, new to the forum, been reeding and gathering info on here for a while, I just have a few questions.
Great info on here and the entire forum thanks for posting it up.
I am in the process of selling my FJC and purchasing a 15 4Runner Limited. Looking around the new BP-51's look like they are going to be a pretty mean set up. My immediate concern is when I take delivery of the new 4Runner (hopefully next week) I am looking to put a new suspension on it so I can run larger tires and for general off road use.
I don't see my self doing much rock crawling in the new 4Runner. It is going to be my dd and I try to get up in the mountains every other week. Mostly trail riding around the rockies, backwoods camping, and general debauchery/shenanigans... But we are planning a trip up to Alaska in the next year.
-Do you guys think it is worth the wait for the BP-51's?
I was looking at getting an ICON set up, but think the complete adjustability for this system is worth the wait
-When they do come out, is the FJC/Prado/4Runner all going to be the same? I believe the FJC/Predo kit is coming out soon.
