I'm needing to replace my OEM Bridgestones and I'm looking for an awesome tire for my 2010 Trail. I'm currently looking at the BFGooodrich Rugged Terrain T/A's. Anybody have any advice on that tire or recommendations on what works good for you. And yes, I've searched the forum already and couldn't find an answer. Thanks in advance.

I had BFG ruggeds that came on a 2005 Dodge diesel, even with the heavy truck the tires were still good at 45,000 when I took them off for some new bigger tires. Overall they were OK, I was happy with the life, but traction on wet pavement was somewhat of a challenge. Off road I found the tire did not clean out as well as the BFG A/Ts.
I am running those (BFG A/Ts) on the 4runner now and they have about 45,000 on them at the moment, and look like they will be good for another 15-20,000 without any issues. I like the wet pavement traction and the off road performance (including the way the tire cleans itself out) on the A/Ts better.

The Rugged Trails are junk - I gave them an honest effort on my '04 Ram and got rid of them after a month or so. When I bought my '06 Ram, I didn't even take delivery on it before I swapped them out.
Best bet for an all around tire that's good in mud, snow, and highway is a Wrangler Duratrac. I have them on mine, lots of guys on here are running them, and I use them on my entire fleet of company trucks with very good results.

I did a ton of research on AT tires for my trail, the Firestone load c At destinations were a good all around choice, good reviews, good price, nice tread depth, smooth and quiet, nice look. They do pick up alot of stones in the tread, I can only imagine how many chips I cause on windshields (did get my paint once). I did 275's.

The Rugged Terrains are a newer tire, totally different from the Rugged Trails. I've seen some very good reviews so far. Agreed that the Rugged Trails are garbage. Destination ATs and Cooper AT3s are on the top of my list.

^^^ Those are the exact tire I'm getting for my SR5 when it's time. Waited for my daughters winter tires to be swapped at the local Town Fair Tire and someone must have special ordered these tires in a 305/70/16 and they are a great looking tire imo.
Thanks for the info, all. The Terrains are on nationwide back order right now, not sure if that's good or bad, but I'm thinking good. They look pretty awesome. I got burned with Firestone back in the Explorer scandal so I'm hesitant to buy them. Have they turned around, can I trust them?

I just put stock size BFG KO E rated and they are definitely stiffer than the P rated tires. I've always used the BFG KO on all my vehicles so that waste driving for e. my decision. Most driving is on the road with snow and off road trails filling in gaps. I almost went duratrac but had a bad experience with Goodyear several years ago so that swayed me back to BFG.
