new to 4r and toyotas

Hey all just bought a 2006 4R the other day sport v6 in charcoal grey mica that's what the tags read at least. I also own a 2008 volkswagen gti just curious of there are some common problems I should keep an eye on and if there are any diy newbie mods I should look into?
