You may have gotten lucky with a sight unseen certified used....however there are plenty of certified turds out there. The "Toyota Certification" process is basically some clueless dealership employee standing next to the vehicle with a clipboard, putting some checks in some boxes, and calling it a day. Sometimes they don't even bother standing next to the vehicle.....
Congrats on your new TE BTW, I just wouldn't advice anyone buying a used vehicle, certified or not, sight unseen.

I actually sold Toyota's for a few years and can say that the Certification Process is solid. Backed by a one year bumper to bumper coverage. It also has brand new tires! It costs the dealer atleast $1500 to run it through the process. I have driven it for a day and the thing is basically brand new. It has only 15,000 miles and was driven by an elderly man. Chances are this thing is going to last me for years to come. Don't poop on my parade. :guitar2:
