Hi everyone. My name is Cory and I live in Orlando. I didn't post int he new member forum strictly because I wanted to get some input form you folks here in FL.

I want to buy a 2003/4 4runner V8 4x4 and I see quite a few that are over 150k on the ODO. I've had owned 2 Tundra's and a a pick up and never have had an issue.

So the advice I am looking for is what to look for when looking at 4runners? Should I be concerned about mileage?

I want the V8, but whats the word on the V6?

Any useful feedback would be much appreciated.

I had a 03 Tundra with the V8. I liked that motor a lot but I got rid of the truck at 99k and bought an 08 Tundra. I have found a 2004 4Runner 4wd v8 for just under 7k with 140k on the ODO. I'm going to look at it.
 
imho I do concern myself with mileage, over here in tampa there are quite a few with 150 to 180k on them for around $9k although I certainly trust these vehicles at that mileage and even more so, what I don't trust is the owners. You just dont know. I got mine at a steal from someone who did everything at toyota including filling the tires with air when the tpms light came on, I know this cause they showed me all of there reciepts.

I would suggest when you are looking at one, look at the outside of their house and what other vehicles they have. If everything looks nice and well kept most likely they also took care of that 4runner. good luck and you'll love having a 4runner.
 
The one I am going to look at is on a indy lot. So not that there are anything wrong with these vehicles per say. But you never know. The Toyota dealerships in my area have a few on their lots, but way over priced. 12-14k.
 
yeah they are over priced at the dealership, I try to stay away from indy lots, some can be shady. and usually if the dealership doesnt want to sell it, it will go to auction where these guys pick them up. I would try to stick to private sellers.
 
I just picked mine up a few weeks ago. 2003 with 153k on the clock. V8 4x4. If you keep your eye out you can sometimes pick up some good deals. I actually picked mine up from a small dealer for 8500 tax tag and gift wrapped. I have now invested about another 500 and she looks and drives awesome. Just make sure the timing belt was changed. If you go on the toyota owners web site, register and then put in a vin# you can see any maint that was done at toyota.
 
This is what I looked at today. 142k on the ODO. Drives nice and the motor had good power. Felt better than the 4R I drove from a Toyota Dealership that had 177k.

I completely forgot about the ownership website!! Thanks for reminding me. Looked up the 04 4R but only 2 hits and no service history. Must have taken it to a indy mechanic.

Mine only had a few records listed on the owners site as well. Luckily the main one I was concerned with was, timing belt, was there and right on schedule so I was satisfied. If it feels good and the price is good then I would go for it. I didn't drive any other 4R's but mine def feels strong and a good bit better than the 3 V8 Tundras I drove with similar miles.
