New to the forum, question about stock suspension travel

We recently purchased a used '08 4x4 SR5 4Runner (Toyota Certified). So far the truck is proving to be a very nice vehicle. The forum has been very helpful with discussion on upgrades and accessories (Weathertech mats on order, and I just ordered/installed the OEM Homelink console)

Question for the forum members: Is the stock vehicle known to have rather low suspension travel in the front? I noticed today when driving over speed bumps that the front suspension was bottoming out. The truck handles very well - feels like new to me quite honestly. So I was very surprised to find this issue, and wonder if it is more common or if I have a problem.

I did find one thread on the forum describing my issue identically:

But the issue was never resolved. Does anyone else have problems like this?

My '06 V8 does the same thing over speed bumps. I don't think anything is wrong with it...just very little travel in the front.

It has decent total travel, but just very little for compression (upward travel) and a lot for droop. If you look at the front axles , you'll see that they going upwards towards the hub from the differential.

A suspension lift will help out.

Cool. Well, I'm glad to see there isn't something wrong, and happier even still to find that there are remedies. I will begin researching into front end lift work.

You could try some new shocks and/or different springs. Try some FJ Cruiser springs with some Bilstein shocks.

maybe you can spring for adjustable coilovers . (no pun intended)
