New windshield? Opinions?

So, cruising down the highway minding my own business and then BAM! Thanks Atlas Van Lines semi with torn up mud flaps and who's "How am I driving?" sticker was conveniently ripped in half. Seems as if the rock hit right at the bottom edge of the windshield and then blew the sealant into the cab. Within a few minutes it had cracked a good two inches upwards and I'm sure it will keep going. The pic is a little deceiving (its hard to take pictures of cracks in glass) but shows the bulging seal well. Called the guys that put the windshield in last spring and they said I need a new one since the seal is ruined. Sound right to you guys? I was hoping they could just plug it or whatever they do. I've never seen this happen, but hey, I guess anythings possible. At least my glass deductible is only $50.

ok yeah hahaha you call your local auto glass place and ask for a quote for 1984/85 4runner with a bronze hue and a bronze top tint line that is factory....see how much you pay!! and for the record i was offered the green hue with blue tint top line for 160 but i wanted a replacement of the rare one i had to begin with.

but yes its a funny inside joke at me.

Hey sorry!! you have been helpful in answering my ? when ive had em and u are appreciated :) as i begin my 1st gen resto im sure ill be asking u stuff so i dont want to burn any bridges!!!

Brought it down to the windshield place and they said new one is in order. Really my luck must suck, a touch lower and it would have hit the hood vents and little higher, the wiper arm, sigh. Bad_vision, went and read about your windshield woes and that sucks. Just out of curiosity, I'm going to ask them for a quote. Funny thing is even for the 94 the bronze hued glass is more expensive, but I didn't ask them how much more it was since mine had the green/blue to begin with.

the 84/85 bronze hue with bronze tint was the rarest option for wind screen because i had the white truck with gold package it needed the bronze/bronze and it cost me to get a factory one instead of a remake that was bronze hue with blue tint strip.
i chose to go this route and i payed for it.

man when i see a dump truck in front of i turn off at the next street.
i want to get some of those peel off screens they use in NASCAR just for some extra protection.
