New with lots of questions

Hello Everyone,

Just introducing myself I just bought an 05 with 50k mi 2wd V6 SR5. I went from a quick little DSM to this car so it is a big improvement as far as comfort and the power isn't as bad as I thought it would be.

So here is my wishlist already. I've had this car for 3 days now.

HID retrofit- Already have tsx/50w ballast/Phillips 85122+

Radio is to plain I need a 2din in dash navi dvd setup I'm currently researching that.

Seats I want to get black leather covers researching that as well.

Audio lacks big time I need more highs and vocals.

Possibly wheels/ tires. It needs a more aggressive look.


Anyways one thing I cannot find in the searches. I am wondering if the front and rear bars that are all over the internet are helpful in my situation. I want them in case of people hitting the car while street parking etc. Are they flimsy? Which ones are recommended? I want them for function not looks too much. I am worried about them bending in case of an accident and causing more damage than without it. Any insight on this?

i work in brooklyn, i put a front and rear bumper guard on my car. i can take a picture later this afternoon when i get in if you would like.

i have the WAAG "Frontrunner" on the front, it covers the bottom half of the bumper, and the "Rear Bumper Guard" in the back. If ever in a real accident, they wouldn't do much good, as the bolts in which attach them to the car are no more than 3/4" thick. the bars are not at all flimsy, but if you hit anything faster then 10mph i couldn't see them holding up.

However, if you live in a city where people "bump" park, you can't make a better investment. i bought mine from truckaddons.com...good price, timely service, ships directly from WAAG so you know its new.

Parking in NY is dangerous business unless you don't care about how a car looks! My Uncle lives there and when I visit I am always blown away with how little regard people have for other peoples labor/property. Enough of the :soapbox: Rather than being a master of the obvious let me contribute something: Searching here sucks. The tricks outlined in this post works great.

If you live in NY, people park by feel and not their mirrors. The only thing is be careful and make sure those bars don't interfere with the airbags.

its not that people dont care about your stuff, its that when you're driving around for 20 minutes looking for parking, when you find a spot (that may be too small), you're gonna take it at all costs.

and thank you all for caring about me in an accident . In all honesty, as I mentioned, if you are going to be getting into a big accident in which you need the airbags to deploy, these are going to act like aluminum soda cans. However, if you get into a little fender bender, they may help prevent those expensive airbags from going off:awais:

glad i can help. i bought them for protection, but i do think they look much cooler in person...they look kinda wimpy in the photos i took lol. if you live anywhere around Long Island your more than welcome to come over and take a look.
