Are you serious? Do you honestly believe that other vehicles and deer keep away from your 4Runner because you have a grille guard?

I'm sure that 99% of other drivers on the road don't even notice your grille guard or give it a second glance. And don't even get me started on a deer avoiding your 4Runner because of a grille guard.

to be honest, i do have the feeling, and feel safer, plus i believe the brush help guard the expensive headlight house. as i said, it costed insurance a "grille guard" to replace pair of headlights.
it is not the grille guard keeps deer away. i believe the fog lights mounted on grille guard gave the signal to deer when i drove through woods at night and noticed a deer waiting by the road, "looking at my 4runner". i feel safe but other drivers may not be, at least 44.
they would not against g.g. or b.g without noticing the existence of them.

Are you really going to deny that a brush guard attached to the frame of a vehicle will not negatively affect energy transfer in a crash? Was it you who claimed to have an engineering background? If so, then I'm sure you would understand such a simple concept.

Besides, without spending a ton of cash and crashing several vehicles, I don't think I could provide you with any hard numbers. Therefore, common sense will just have to prevail.

That's why I asked if you were the one with an engineering background. Sorry, but I didn't feel like reading through the entire thread to check. Common sense has nothing to do with looking back at the thread if I was unsure.

BTW, common sense doesn't really have much to do with assumptions either. Anyone with a bit of common sense knows that.

I'm not going to try and convince you that a brush guard mounted to the frame of a vehicle will affect the decelerative forces (because of an effect on the crumple zone) in a crash. Anyone with common sense knows that it's true. No engineer required.

Not everyone opposes those "stupid" laws. You may not mind cigarette smoke, but it bothers me when I have to breathe cigarette smoke because someone around me is smoking. I love the no smoking laws. Seatbelt law? Same deal. Believe it or not, seatbelt laws affect all of us. Sure, I may not care if you are critically injured in an accident and spend months in the hospital, but it will eventually affect everyones insurance premiums.

Sometimes those stupid laws save people from themselves. If one agrees with the premise, then he/she cannot possible be led around like a sheep.

First off this was about BRUSH GUARDS? Do find them threatening society or putting you in great peril? You really think we need a law for that one? Show me some FACTS regarding accidents involving vehicles with

Not that I want to beat a dead horse, but tell me how on earth you can CONTROL smoking without any laws to protect non-smokers? I've always hated cigarette smoke and it always bothered me that I was forced to breathe smoke filled air because someone around me decided to smoke. What could I do about it? Absolutely nothing, unless I decided to always stay home and never venture out in public.

It's about time we protected the rights of non-smokers to breath clean air, or at least air that is not filled with cigarette smoke. Face it, the anti-smoking laws are good laws intended to protect people. If you want to call that Big Brother, then I'm all for it since 1986.

The way I see it is, this is a bad precedent if it goes though. First it'll be brush guards, then something like having dubbs on your truck makes it harder to stop because of the rolling inertia, etc... blah blah, so ban dubbs and it'll just go on and on. Then ban rear tow hitches, because people put hitch steps on them and other accessories on it when they're not towing and affects the damage of the car that did the rear ending.

Politicians need to do something useful and represent the people for the sole reason why they were elected into office, not create some nonsense law. I bet the only reason why he drafted this law was because he backed into a truck that had one of these "brush guards" and it destroyed his rear bumper.

Yes, me too but no one is bothering to gather this test data BEFORE trying to pass this asinine law.

BTW - I like the no smoking laws. It was awesome hanging out at clubs in Cali without smelling like an ash tray afterwards.

I would think that an LEO would know there is a difference between a proposed law that has no test data to back up its purpose and a law needed to protect the rights of people who don't want to breathe toxic fumes that are PROVED to be harmful to your health. I guess it must be a PITA when you have enforce such a law with that attitude.

Also if testing results show that air bag deployment is compromises by having a brush guard on a vehicle, I would have no problem with a law to protect people!

If you don't know what you are talking about it's usally best not to make any statement at all because it will confirm it to people like me.

Some of the compounds present in secondhand smoke become carcinogenic only after they are activated by specific enzymes (proteins that control chemical reactions) in the body. After these compounds are activated, they can then become part of a cell
