Newbie needs help with mods. Lots of questions.

I'm using the TRD Tundra's for the front but not the OME 890X rears. I carry tools, a 12" Sub box & eventually a rear plate bumper with a 33" spare so I think the taller 8 wraps will give me a soft ride & still have a rake.
I'll probably sell the 890's when I've decided the 8 wraps are for me.

Let me know when you're ready to lose the 890's. I have a set of LC 8 wraps off a 1993 if you're interested in setting up a deal.

Did some wheeling today with the family at Barnwell Mountain OHV park. My wife has never gotten into my enduro riding so I thought it would be cool to bring them (9 month old came too) along.

I was impressed how it handled in stock form. We weren't able to make it up in a few steep hills because of mud and the Geolanders didnt grip the slick rock worth a ----. We had to stick to main roads and smaller obstacles.

We later met a group with 3 Jeeps and an FJ that ended up adopting us into their convoy and we had a blast on some 3 diamond trails. We had to get winched up a few times but I was still amazed what it could do with aired down stock tires.

I talked to the guy with the FJ and he said he will be putting a lift on soon and that he'll give me his old struts and springs if I give him a hand with the install [emoji48]

I read somewhere that they'll give me a 2-3" lift. Sounds like a winner if it works.

Ordering tires next week.
Hopefully I'll get his stock suspension bits in the next month or two.

Should I use some of the money I was going to put towards the lift and buy UCA's?

Heres an obligatory trail head pose.

Did ISR mod today .

Didn't realize I did not need two nipples so I capped off the extra one. I guess I'll have an extra vacuum line if need be.

I can't feel the difference to be honest. It sounds better now though. I'll be adding a magnaflow soon to compliment it. I'm assuming there is no gain from it either aside from sound.

Also slapped on some 265/75R16 Goodyear MTR Kevlars. I'll report back with initial impressions.

I am digging the tires.
The clay out here gums up tires pretty easy. I got stuck in an 8 foot ditch but was able to get out by flooring it 4hi.
They cleaned out really well and dug right in.

My wife didn't even notice them on the street. So they passed the road noise test.

I ended up trading the shop I'm working at labor for the tires.

I have $1,000 to throw at it now. Any ideas?

Everyone has been helpful and saying

1. New radiator
2. New water pump and belts
3. Lower ball joints
4. Engine flush
5. Spark plugs and wires.

I am going to get a quote on these for mine.

Already flushed radiator.
Replaced water pump.
Replaced t belt.
Replaced plugs and wires.
Ball joints felt OK.

Dont know what an engine flush is.

I was asking more about mods.
I enjoyed some minor/moderate crawling last weekend and want a more capable wheeler.

Ok. So far I've added the Boss lift, panhard drop, 1.5" wheel adapters, ISR, deckplate, 14" Magnaflow, MTR Kevlars, and stickers.

Just ordered an Aussie locker for the rear and a CBI front Bumper. I'm considering the water proof Smittybuilt winches. Anyone have experience with these?

I also found that my T4R has the factory option for upgraded brakes and 16" wheels. Is it really neccisary to upgrade to Tundra brakes if they are working fine right now?

I can't tell if you're serious or not.

If you are the BOSS lift is adjustable from 0"-3" in the front and the rear should be between 3"-4" depending on which springs you decide on.

I love mine. Flexes well and rides better than stock.
