Well I had only 45k on my '05 when I got it. Let's say that the prior owner got it in '05 when the '06 came out that would be an average of 17k a year. A little high for the norm. However if well maintained I wouldn't be to worried with a Toyota.
Since you are in Fairfax, where have you been to looking? I got mine from Ourisman in Chantilly area and they had a decent selection with decent miles on them and the folks there are pretty nice. Manassas has a dealer(Miller Toyota) too with a bunch of used 4Runners there on there Used Truck lot. Hope this helps in your search.

I've owned both... had a 04' Ltd V-6 and now a 06' Ltd V-8. The V-6 is a great match but the V-8 is really the cats meow. One feature I like that my V-6 offered was the part time/full time 4wd (simply to shut the full time off in the summer months - NOT a big deal but would be a nice feature). If you don't tow, then the history of the vehicle will be more important than the engine size. Did the previous owner tow??? simply a DD (daily driver)?? lease?? what part of the country driven in (rust, ect)??? If you drive your vehicles to extreme miles then 20K really isn't a big deal. If you drive them for a year or two then the 20K could be a deal breaker for your next buyer when you sell. Either way, both of my 4Runners have been my all time fav SUV's (and I've had a bunch!).

There are plenty of opinions, and threads, discussing the two. You can tell by reading my sig, I'm a big fan of the V8 but the V6 is no joke either.
One thing you said that stuck out to me, however, is getting the V6 and trying to up the ponies with CAI and exhaust. My personal philosophy is to get the bigger motor and not try to get where you could have been with performance mods. CAI and exhaust will not compensate for the HP difference between the two engines and certainly not the torque. If you prefer the V8, I say go for it. MPG difference between the two is marginal under "real world" driving conditions. The mileage isn't a big deal, as neither of those are hardly broken in at under 100k miles. Drive both and go with which ever one you prefer.

Get the V8. I have owned a 2006 Limited 4WD V6, and drove it for a year. I now drive a 2007 Limited 4WD V8 and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!
The entire time I drove the V6 I wanted the V8. Now that I have the V8, I have never once have wanted the V6 back again, including last summer when gas was $4.

Thank you all for your input... I know this thread is a repeat, but you guys helped a lot.
I test drove both and the V8 seems to be a little smoother in acceleration. However, I may have another issue... The dealer for the V6 gave me a great financing deal whereas the V8 is not; almost $150 difference in monthly payment (loan amounts are the same for both). My last business venture killed my credit to a point I almost had to file bankruptcy. I think I was meant to get the V6.
I just hate to get the V6 and always wanting a V8... Am I being greedy?

All good arguments, but $150 a month is well $150 a month. How long is the loan, if it is 4 years thats $7,200 and that is nothing to sneeze at. If you put up the total cost, I bet it would change most members mind on what to get.
The V6 is a big V6, also take into account that it has a timing chain, in the V8 you have to change the belt at 90,000 miles. But, be aware of a few concerns about the V6, see this thread:

You guys are awesome! Okay, here are the details of the vehicles...
2006 Limited V6, 4WD, 43,000 miles, White w/ grey interior, $24,500 (Original asking price, $27,980)
2006 Limited V8, 4WD, 69,000 miles, Silver w/ grey interior, $24,500 (Original asking price, $24,900)
The V6 dealership jumped through many hoops to get me approved for financing with right under 10% interest. The V8 is offering 19% interest... Mind you, my credit score had a huge drop...
I think I'm going to go with the V6. Going to sign contract this afternoon. Wish me luck.

Yikes - 19% !! :sadwave: There's not a vehicle on the planet worth paying that interest rate for (not to me anyway)...

I have the V6 4WD and LOVE IT! I debated for a long time between the two and could not be happier that I chose the V6, because chances are that I will never tow anything heavier than a jet-ski. I love my V6. Also saved me several thousand in cost, which I was able to redirect towards my retirement fund.
And the part that I did finance is at 0.9% financing. I bought as the dealers were going bankrupt a few years back and couldn't give away SUV's during the $5/gallon days.

Thank you all for your input and support. I just got approved for financing and will be picking up the vehicle tomorrow morning. The financing guy at the dealership had to give up his first born to get me approved. Again, my credit was in deep red... I guess it pays off when you refer many customers to the dealership.
By the way, I'll be picking up the 2006 White Limited V6 4X4.
