newbie with mod questions

Hi all, first post, but a lurker for a long time. just picked up a 2006 sr5 4wd v6 in shadow mica this weekend :awais:

Now I have the itch to install mods and looking for advice. To start, i just set an appt. to replace the tires with Revo's on Wednesday.

Questions
Which all season mats - weather tech or toyota?

Will installing a front skid plate make the routine maintenance harder (lubing the chasis) i do this my self - so don't want to make this a pain in the arse

front bud deflector - the best one from toyota?

xm - can this be run thru the mp3 plug?

You drive through alot of marajuana fields or something? I mean why would you need to have a bud deflector? I'd buy a bud intake if I were you.

But if you're looking for a buG deflector, get the Canadian one.

Was the purpose of this reply to actually waste everyone's time, or was it intended to be rude?

Especially when a new person logs on and posts a question, it is very UN-welcoming to say, "We don't want to answer you, don't want to be bothered with your question, and don't be so lazy- go away foolish one."

That's a loosely translated version of what you wrote.

And I have used the search function a lot. It is lacking in accuracy and function. One *can* find what they want, maybe, but after sorting through lots of junk, irrelevant posts, and whine-age about using the search function, it is not easy.

If recommending the search feature, try offering a search term or recommending a post. After all, he was asking for opinions with a summary of what people think is best.

He obviously respects and values the opinions of people who post on this site. Let's return the courtesy...

I have the Toyota mats and like them , although I think the weathertec protects a little more around the edges.

I have Revos in the up size of 265/70/17 , the size looks better going a little bigger , Revo is a good rain tire. It depends on what you driving style is though. If you off road I would look at a different tire. Mine also are getting a pretty good hum to them when driving and have been rotated every 5k miles at have 17k on them now. I will get rid of these tires buy 30k which will be this summer. They do ride nice though and are a great all-season type of tire.. Not much of an all terrain, great for lt. off roading , lt. snow , lt. mud , not good on mudy trails though.

The Toyota mats look great with the grey cloth, since they're black they need a good deal of washing when you get the salt on the roads and such but otherwise they're fantastic.

Welcome to the 4Runner forum and congrats on the new truck

I purchased the Toyota All weather mats for my 2006 4Runner. For the rear cargo area, I bought the Husky cargo mat that fits over the Double Decker in the back.

Sorry, I can't help about the skid plate.

I installed the Toyota bug shield on my truck a couple of weeks ago and I like it. The Toyota shield covers the top of the grill. If you do decide to buy the Toyota bug shield try to negotiate with your dealer's parts guy on the price or try the Partznet link at the top of the page.

If you have the little 3.5mm plug in your console you can plug an MP3 player or most any other audio device including your sat unit. If you have the JBL unit with the SAT button, then the unit allows you to plug a compatible XM or Sirius sat receiver in the back of the JBL unit and show the tune info in the display. And it sounds better than played through the aux connector.

I have Husky liners instead of car mats and I LOVE them! They are great for those wintery nights when the snow melts. They are plastic and specifically made for your truck. There are some good deals on Ebay for them as thats where I got mine. As for the bug deflector, I went with the Canadian Toyota deflector for rocks and such. It has helped a little on dings on the front of my truck but not much more than that. You can also get that online. You will have to search for it as I don't remember where I bought mine from.

A couple of days after this post, Atomic Punk (one of the funny guys) needed information on Revo prices - i helped the guy...lfe's too short to be a prick

anyway i have been busy, i installed Revo's, bug guard, front skid plate, exhaust finsiher, weather tech mats lubed all the zerks and changed to Mobil 1 with the Napa gold filter (wix)

I would have answered if the newbie had asked ONE question. He asked 3-5 questions in one posting. I recommended the SEARCH button because it was APPROPRIATE for the amount of questions he wanted answered at that one time. The search button is to T4R.org as the google button is to the internet.

Since the newbie posted in October and it has taken you until December to respond; then he would have found his answers many times over by using my suggestion (the SEARCH button). I rest my case.

I noticed that it also took you about two months to respond to his original posting. My suggestion has served him much faster and better than your lame stab of a response at me personally. Here you are trying to counsel me when you should think before you answer with a reply.

When I first came here I didn't know about the search button until someone suggested it to me. I was THANKFUL of that person for this simple suggestion. When many people, like myself, first logged onto T4R.org they are amazed at the vast amount of responses to questions answered here daily. Many of us forget that the same question has been asked numerous times over.
By using the SEARCH button, one can grasp this information and then tailor his/her question to be more specific before posting it on the board. They may also find that just by revitalizing a old thread may yield more thought out responses. The above being from having several old responses right there to compare thought with........... over!
