Next Mod: Defiant light bar and lights!

I have decided to get the Defiant light bar and 4 lights. Was going to go with 2 PIAA 520's in the middle and 2 PIAA 510's in the outside of the bar. Should I make the 520's driving lights and the 510's fogs? Any thoughts from the experts on here? I have used the google search above but did not get the info i was looking for. Any thoughts on the light config?

I have a 2012 sr5. I did my first mod yestreday and put some Dura Tracs on. Just went with stock tire size. I love the ride!

Definitely recommend the light bar. I have one for sale that is in perfect condition as well. :

For the lights. I would put your inners on one switch and outers on a second switch. Make them available whenever you need them.

Consider your larger light setup as well. I have my roof lights already and plan to add driving lights when I get my shrockworks bumper; this may play into your light selection and switch grouping (unless you are Jangoforhire and have switches to turn on your switches :banana .

My switches are set for:
1) front driving lights.
2) roof lights.
3) rear lights.

Space may be an issue depending on how many switches are you planning for.

I've not had any need for more fog than the factory ones, but the extra distance (beyond the OEM headlights) is nice. Since I have the roof already I will likely go with just driving lights, to give me more distance without having to use the roof (aim them between the headlights and the roof in terms of distance).

If you use your fogs more or prefer a wider beam up close when on the trail, add the fogs and aim them further left/right to expand on the OEM fogs.

You would want the fogs on the sides and the drivings in the middle. Fogs will spread out a little, drivings will be a narrow beam.

My experience with 4 light combinations on a 3rd gen with a Waag bull bar is that narrow beams are better when spread. It makes it easier to maximize the light across the throw/reach. Putting them together usually leads to diverging or converging beams, which IMHO is not optimal. Put the wide beam lights in the middle. They have a shorter throw/reach, natural beam conversion, and can be angled out a little for side of the road illumination.

I really appreciate the info. I'm gonna buy the light bar from Trail Slayer and figure get some lights in a couple weeks. Still undecided .....between Hella and PIAA.

Good thing my GF appreciates car/truck mods or I would be hosed! First the Dura Tracs.....now the light bar....and this is just the beginning.

I would also look into Lightforce 170s. They come in a combo pattern, meaning you can turn the light clockwise/counter to make it a driving pattern or a fog/spot pattern. Also you can get these filters if you wanted them yellow or whatever. Might be a little more expensive, but worth it.

She knows how it is as she has a 67 Camaro and 2012 Camaro. Cool thing about this....I drive them all! She is actually diggin my runner right now so I have a feeling I'll be driving a Camaro for commute all winter. Could be worse......

I'm gonna do some light shopping over the next couple weeks. You have any preference as far as brand?

I have ordered Lightforce lights. A pair of 140's and a pair of 170s, as well as some yellow filters for fogs and clear filters for spot. A couple of rocker switches, harnass etc. I will get the light bar installed this weekend and the lights done by mid next week.

I'm excited! Thanks to all who gave me ideas!

Wow. Women like that are difficult to find.
My wife came with '51 CJ3-A. I was driving a '79 CJ-7 at the time. Love at first sight.

I had a '67 Firebird convertible from '94 to '97. Red paint. White top and interior. 350.

Lightforce being installed today!

In a few hours my light install will be done! I will post pics in the next 24hrs. !

Then on to Bilstein 5100's all around and the Baja Rack and/or dual battery set up!

Defiant light bar.....4 Lightforce 140's and I recently did some plastic dipping and painting of my front emplem. Just experimenting! Did the logo in Midnight Blue with a clear coat. I have a one I did in red as well.

I ordered the yellow in fog/diffused and they sent me the wrong ones (spot). I kept them and reordered the correct ones.
