NFab product + customer service = crap!

Some of you may know I bought a pair of Nfab bars not too long after I got my 4Runner. I don't remember the time frame without searching my posts, but I basically well within the warranty period (5 years) the bars started rusting and the paint started coming off. I emailed Nfab several times with absolutely zero response. I called them a few times as well, and was always sent to someone's voicemail, who didn't return my call.

This company is crap. They make really cool bars, but the stuff does not hold up. They offer a warranty, then they ignore any communication. The rust is only surface, but it scaled the paint off in several spots.

I bought a set of RRO Supersliders, which arrived and were installed yesterday. When I have time I will post pics in another thread.

That being said, I sanded off the rust and gave the bars couple of coats of satin black Rustoleum. They look great. I'm putting them up in the for sale section, then craigslist, appropriately priced.

With regards to your new sliders purchase - I have had sliders on every 4wd I've ever owned. Every set of sliders I've ever had needed to be wire brushed and painted at least once a year, more often if they were seeing a lot of trail contact. It's part of the drill.

The last 3 sets I had powder coated prior to install. The powder coat provides a rough texture that helps when using the sliders as steps and also seems to help to hold paint - it does not eliminate painting or reduce painting frequency (the sliders stay looking better between paintings).

I do not know the particulars of your experience w/ Nfab or what the claimed life span is of their finish. I'm not addressing NFab at all -if you are getting sliders on your truck, expect to paint them yearly or every 4-6 months if you wheel it a lot. If you don't, expect to find them getting rusty and rough looking after 2-3 years, or a lot less if you wheel the truck a lot.

good to know about the service depoartment.... I would advise asking to speak to a supervisor in their CR department.... dont evne mention the sliders just tell them you want to chat with some one about the service you got.... if you cant make that work you can always think about doing some online reviews sort of like this so that people can know about.
I do however agree with the above statemnt..... serface rust and paint thats a problem on most aftermarket parts that get beat on unless its powder coated... and even then...
I had the very same problems with paint and part on several of my motorcyles, its just part of the upkeep

Do you happen to know if your steps bars are powder coated or painted? Looks like their powder coating warranty is 5 years, but the painted ones are only 1 year. I'd be pretty annoyed too if yours are powder coated and they are ignoring you like that

I should clarify- their warranty on the powdercoat is five years. Mine started peeling off in medium sized sheets after a few months! That is unacceptable. Their product began to degrade faster than any steel accessory I have ever had on a vehicle, including when I lived on the beach. Mind you it's only surface rust and I took care of it. And it is a powedercoat.

I understand rust is a part of life, and stuff needs to be maintained. I'm pissed that I was COMPLETELY ignored even after several polite attempts to contact them. I think everyone should be informed about their lack of customer service. I have a particular problem with that type of thing.

On a related note, my defiant bar doesn't show any rust or peeling paint, even though there is hardware and frequently carabiners and saltwater soaked rope tied to it.
