NGK spark plugs for V8 (4th Gen)

I notice tons of post on spark plugs. Most folks (after reading) seem to prefer the NGK Iridium plugs.

After checking the NGK site and sparkplugs.com, I found 2 types of Iridium plugs:

NGK Iridium plug 4589 IFR6T-11 .044" $8.07
NGK IX iridium 3764 BKR6EIX-11 .044" $7.32

Any suggestions as to which to buy?

I had mine changed at 31,000 by the stealership and asked them to keep the "old" ones for me. It had three of one brand on the left cylinder bank and three of another brand on the right. Apparently, they do this from the factory......so either brand should probably be okay for a 4.0L V6 4Runner.

Since you have a V8, I suppose you don't have to change them until you pass the 100,000 mile barrier.

NOTE: Three plugs were Denso and three were NGK. Weird, eh?


P.S. I love my new Mustang, but do miss the 4Runner a bit.

I have used the NGK IX Iridiums and now I'm running Denso Iridiums and I didn't have a problem with either. I am running colder plugs because of the supercharger. The factory plugs are Denso's. The only reason I switched back to Denso's from NGK's is because I ran some octaine booster and it tinted the NGK's so I could not get an acurate plug reading. OEM was Denso and I got a deal on them so that's why I switched back.
