Nitrogen in tires

Hey All,
So my truck had nitrogen put in the tires at the dealer. I'm told that nitrogen extends tire life, promotes better wearing, etc. I was also told that nitrogen isn't as sensitive to temperature change. Well, enter today. It's 50 degrees out this morning, I jump in the truck and my awesome low pressure light is on. I've checked several (just to make sure I didn't have a leak in one) and they are all around 26psi. (obviously low). My toyota dealer doesn't actually carry nitrogen, they had those tires filled at the ford dealer. My question is, has anyone here actually used nitrogen in thier tires thru the life, and if so, did it appear to help the tire last longer? I'm torn between just putting air in to get my tires up to pressure or trucking out of my way to the ford dealer to get them refilled with the nitrogen.

it's just as vulnerable as any other gas.

nitrogen is bunk IMO for cars.

Nitrogen in tires is like Monster speaker cables -- just a way to extract money from folks who don't know any better.

Just go to the nearest gas station and add air to your tires.

We're not flying jets here folks. No need unless you are particularly concerned with the small amount of water vapor in your tires freezing. Shouldn't be exposed to such extremes unless you're on an antarctic mission.

Granted it's been a lot of years since i was in school, but isn't regular old "unbottled" air that we breathe already about 78% nitrogen anyway?

"Free" air at my local AM/PM is 75 cents. Nitrogen is free at my dealer. My dealer claims they went to Nitro because they were getting way too many customers coming in with TPMS idiot lights on every time the temperature dropped. It's been swinging here about 50 degrees lately. Anecdotally, I seem to go longer between air-ups with nitro. I've also noticed that my pressures read very close, like +-1lb whether cold or hot so it may actually be costing money in fuel due to lower tire pressure at hwy speeds.
I bet the OP never really got nitro...I bet I didn't either:moping:

I'm going to go swap my green caps onto someone's car for their blacks, and then go drain me tires and get real air. The guy I bought mine from used nitrogen.
